I was walking 18 yesterday and did something really stupid I don't normally do. I laid my GPS on the handle of my bad during a swing instead of putting into my pocket. After the swing, I grabbed my sholder straps and didn't even look at the handle. I got to the next hole and realized I didn't have my GPS. I knew exactly were it was and found it in the middle of the fairway.

So it got me thinking of some of the tips you can use to keep from losing these expensive devices.

Here's mine:

- I created a label with my name and phone number on it and stuck on the back of the GPS.
- When in a cart, I always keep mine in the cupholder. It's pretty secure there and have never had an issue.
- Walking is a little more difficult. I try to always keep it in my pocket but I find it annoying to have anything in there.

I am going to be getting a Laser Rangefinder for Xmas (I know I'm a wishful thinker!), and I like the idea of putting your name/address/phone on it ... hoping someone would return it if it was lost.

Hopefully the thing will come with a cool case that can hang on the bag or that will fit in one of my bag pockets. That way I get in the habit if putting it back in the case.

The biggest thing I have found is to try and put it in the same spot every time. Easier said then done sometimes, but a good habit is hard to break.

I noticed a few weeks ago a new bag at the store that had special clips for accessories. It is kind of like the old clips we used to have for cell phones so that you could slide it in a belt clip then put it on the clip that was attached inside the car. There was a little info card on the bag directing you took look at the company's cases for rangefinders, GPS, balls, etc. The cases hold your item, then you can securely attach it to the bag with the clips. Kind of a neat idea, but you would need to have the bag with the pre attached clips (I think).

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Get yardages the old fashioned way!

Hey, great idea...I just now put a label on my cell phone that I use with the GPSGolfShot application, thanks.

P.S. I have a rainproof address label on each of my clubs, too.

Ya shades9323, I try to use the course yardages as much as possible, but there are times when the sprinkler heads are empty or you need to know the distance TO a specific area.

If the ball is close to the standard 200/150/100 yard markers all the time, then not much need for a GPS/Laser. But since I'm not good enough to keep my shots in those areas all the time I need all the help I can get.

I'm sure the other golfers on the course appreciate me not wasting 10 minutes walking off some obscure yardage when I'm far from a yardage marker.

My SG5 has a belt clip but it bugs me having it on my belt or pocket. So what I do is clip it on to the shoulder strap (the part between the padding a the hinge). When i put the bag down I am able to take a glance and see the yardages without having to take it out of any of the pockets etc, Plus since its clipped on and its in plain view if somehow it unclips you will notice it missing instantly and it wont be farther than where you took your last shot from. The few times that I ride it goes in the cup holder.

Mine came with a belt clip attatchment, but I don't like it on me either. I clip it to the main handle on my bag. That keeps it in a very convenient place where I easily see it when I set the bag down to hit, but it isn't in a place when it gets bounced around too much. Too much bouncing and it could come unclipped or unhook itself from the belt attatchment thingy. That's never happened but I'm kind of paranoid about losing it.

I have a belt clip, but don't like it on my belt... my solution was simply to clip it to my bag and never remove it when walking. I just push my bag next to my ball, and give it a quick look (my bag is on a push cart).

When riding in a cart I do the cupholder thing... only time I've ever had an issue was when some idiot grabbed my cart... no bags were on it since we were warming up on the range... but we both had water bottles and my gps in the cart... yet some jackass thought it was an open cart (the driving range was right next to the cart return). Luckily I caught the moron at the clubhouse asking who's stuff was left in HIS cart...

I have uPro. They offer a bag mount clip but it's $35!!! No way I'm paying that much. I bet I could find a cell phone bag that would fit it.

I always keep it in the cupholder of my cart or in my pocket. My gps is just a program i run on my cell phone so its not that big and cumbersome to keep in my pocket.

I have a laser now so I just put it in a pocket, but when I did have a GPS, I jimmied it with the belt clip to the towel ring on my carry bag. The only time I have left anything was on a tee box. I took the laser and put it on the sand box then left it there. I realized it a few minutes later and thank God it was still there.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

i would just keep it clipped on my belt...when you use it, just clip it back on. you won't lose it unless your pants come off lol.
