I bought one of these today at Roger Dunn to replace a Calloway stand bag that I've grown to hate. This Sun Mountain is totally awesome! I bought green with white accents. Its absolutely gorgeous. Here is a pic of it in my rather messy living room:

Anyway, I'm very impressed with the overall design. I like that some pockets are labelled to make it easy for us to figure out the intent behind the design of the pocket. I have yet to find, and perhaps it has it and perhaps not and I've just not found it, but exterior slots to place some tees. My last bag had five or six loops that were designed to hold tees, and they worked great. This bag doesn't seem to have them.

Well, if you are shopping for a bag, as far as I can tell, this is a great bag.

On a side note, I'm not particularly fond of the "rust" color that Ping uses on the G10 series, which is what I have. It sort of looks crappy with any color bag, except perhaps black. Oh well.

This is an awesome looking bag, and I will check it out, since I am considering getting a stand bag. As for exterior tee pockets, I use caddy pouches. I get them for like $4 when Roger Dunn does tent sales, and they clip to the bag at various spots. I even keep tees of different lengths in different pouches, and sharpies in the mesh pocket. They're quite useful. Look for them in the bins - Roger Dunn Santa Ana should be doing their tent sale within the month, if I remember my schedule correctly.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

One of the big selling features to me was that the individual slots are individual all the way to the bottom of the bag. In other words, the dividers aren't just dividers at the top of the bag.

In my last bag, I could hear all the clubs hitting one another when I'd put a club back in the bag. I was always worried that my grips on my irons would rub up against the leather grip on my Newport 2 Button Back and ruin it.

This bag eliminates that problem entirely. Not sure if having bag-length dividers is standard now, as I really have not "shopped" bags. I started looking at them today and pulled the trigger on this one, as I've hated my Callaway bag with a passion.

Oh, Shindig, this bag has a designated pen pocket under the grip. I put a sharpie there. The small pocket actually says something like "pen" over it. I love the labelled pockets.

Thanks for the tips on what to look for at Roger Dunn. I'm over there almost weekly, so I'll find that stuff you recommend.

I'm still using a Sun Mountain stand bag that I purchased around '92. It's been in storage for 15 years, but I like it.

1. No drink pouch.

2. Heavy in comparison to nicer bags. 3. Very poor weight distribution - wouldn't stand up - falls over immediately 4. Too many deep pockets, not enough shallow pockets 5. Dividers are not full length - grips rubbing up against other grips 6. Its got "Callaway" plastered all over it The Callaway bag is an okay bag. I think I'm going to put a set together at some point for people visiting me who left their set at home. Sorry, I don't have the model of the bag - I already stored it because I couldn't stand to look at it anymore. Glad to move it on. The bag is about 6 years old, so perhaps the maker of bags for Callaway has improved them. Oh, and I'll never go back to a cart bag. Too much of a pain in the butt. I prefer having the stand, which is what I had in the bag prior to the Callaway. Look at the Sun Mountain. It was $190 and it is a beautiful bag. Has everything I need except a clever little place to stick a few tees, but if that is the biggest problem, oh well. - DN

Sun Mountain and Ogio seem to have the best "ideas" and that makes their bags fun which equals "value". I am looking for a winter bag. In the winter you need to carry clothing layers around with you and in the summer you don't. So a cart bag with big hip pockets seems like a good idea... I wish they came with legs like carry bags.

I've been really pleased with my Sun Mountain bag this past month. The only problem I've had is one of the drain pieces popped out of the cooler pocket. I suspect it was my fault as I had it overstuffed with 4 waterbottles and ice.

That is a sweet looking bag, too....cool color choice.

I really like how it is divided.

Nice bag!...It was on my very short list, as I was also looking for a stand bag with 14 full length dividers. I also looked at the SM MPB. I settled on the 17 Green Vertex, mainly due to the price. It has a few less pockets, but only weighs 1 pound more, and is $100 or so less than the Four5. I figured that even if it doesn't last as long, I won't be out too much $$. I will take some pics when it arrives next week and start a seperate thread.

Nice bag. I looked at these tonight while I was at Golf Galaxy. I currently have a Ping L8 stand bag from the mid 90s, which is still going strong.

I am looking for a new bag with full length dividers. I think I might actually get the 3.5 Superlight, as it's about a pound lighter than the 4.5 and still seems to hold a bit - though, 14 dividers would be kinda nice. With the 3.5, I can get it in a nice red, white, blue color scheme which I am partial too. That would allow me to use my red, white, blue Ping headcovers from my current bag. I just hope that I could get at least 10 years out of a Sun Mountain like I have with my Ping.

Well, I went to work with my pro yesterday and he paid me some compliments on the bag. Funny, I told him I hated my last bag and he was like, yeah, I didn't like it either. I gave him shit for secretly hating my old bag, and he played it off. Said that since I got new clubs he thought I should have upped the bag as well.

This bag is a pleasure to carry and use. I'm very pleased with the purchase.

Can you elaborate a little more on why you think the PING bags are so good...I have owned a couple of hoofers over the years and I get tired of the clubs getting stuck together and have a hard time getting them in and out of the bag...other then that they are very durable and functional bags...also is it true as I recently read somewhere that the trick to getting the clubs in and out of the PING Hoofer bag is to stand it upright when attempting to remove or replace a club???

I have a Sun Mountain Four 5 and love the 14 dividiers as it keeps my bag organized and the clubs do not get stuck going in or coming out...the only thing I do not like about this bag is the foot that sticks out on the bottom makes it hard to get it to work on some golf carts when I have to ride...
