Nope the ProV1x spins more than the ProV1. Tests have shown this over and over.

Eric, I had always believed the ProV1 spun more too. I believe they used to spin more. Same with balls like the Srixon Z-URC as well. Apparently, in the last year or two, the manufacturers have done something that makes the core of this type of ball harder, but the cover softer. With this combination, when compressed they actually spin more. Like you, I didn't believe it at first!

I've read this a number of times in the past year, and found that in fact they do seem to spin more, at least on full shots. It has changed my ball selection. When greens are hard and fast, I now play that type of ball. When they are pretty receptive, I find on full shots with my wedges, there is so much spin I can't control them. On the other hand, I also find with partial shots they seem to spin less, perhaps because the harder core makes them compress a little less. I'd be happy to find additional ball spin tests and posts links if you like.

As you can see, off of a wedge, the ProV1 spins 400 rpms LESS than the ProV1x.

Now, I'll be the first to tell anyone I can't imagine seeing much difference between 9300 and 9700 rpms, but the X spins more!

Honestly-i never bought balls. I sneak onto golf courses and find them. You would be amazed how many Pro V1's and other "diamonds in the rough" there are....

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

i live on a course, I get about 4-6 balls left in my yard every day in season. Unless they are balls I play (Srixon Z-URC or Z-URS), I give them to friends. Mosy are pretty good balls, lots of Callaway HX Tours, ProV1s, ProV1xs and Bridgestone B330/B330S. Very few cheap balls (Top Flite, Pinnacle etc.)

I usually save 3 or 4 ProV1s in case I play in an alternate shot event, as my partner plays those.

Wow!!! Where are you buying those? Maybe you should stop buying them from wherever you are IMMEDIATELY and go to any other store that sells golf balls. You will find them for much cheaper.

Well the problem is that is the normal price here in Sweden, of course there is balls for about 16$/dzn but they are normally not that good

I've supported you all along but this is a stretch. The only guys I know of who go to a course specifically to hunt for balls are retired hacks like my uncle John.
