Back to Augusta National and women.

The course was designed as a championship course for male golfers. It has no women's tees per se, although the member's (white) tees are sometimes used by visiting female college golfers.

It has lots of "forced carry" shots across water, which is considered unattractive for the average female golfer. Thus, it would be a pretty brutal course for an everyday female golfers to play.

For a three-to-five page paper, however, something on golf course design and environmental issues (maybe, one oncoexisting with wetlands?) would be more manageable.

No, honestly, there have been some good topics mentioned, I think the race/gender thing is an obvious choice, hence I would find something else.

There actually may be some substance to the 6-iron debate though. Consider the psychological state that exists within some people that causes them to lie about shit like that. Golf is a self-policed game, so it tends to expose the true character of those who play unlike any other sport. So, which characters are more prominent in today's world? Does the BS-ing cross-correlate among genders?

I don't think this is exactly controversial, and I don't know where your interests lie, this is sounding like more of a psych paper. I think you right a pretty legit paper about the true motivation behind 215 yard internet 6-iron shots and the like. Resources would be tough, but its just a thought.

Yea, I was thinking of gender issues before I started reading responses to the OP. It's crazy how many men say that "women don't belong on a golf course" for no reason other than the fact that they are women.

My favorite golf partner happens to be my GF. She took 109 strokes during our last round, and our foursome still managed to keep up with the group ahead of us.
