I just realized the other day, that during my golf swing I hold my breath. I realized this while tinkering in the back yard with my pitching wedge. Anyone else take note of this?

Sorry..I guess the question did seem odd. next time I hit the range, Im going to make a conscious effort to exhale during downswing. odd that I never realized that before

I generally hold my breath and exhale at contact. It's not something I've been taught, just something I grew comfortable with. The only example I could cite as a comparison would be the tennis grunt on contact..

..I don't grunt, promise~

Oh Great! Now something else to think about during my swing!

But seriously, I do not make any conscience effort on breathing. The only time I try to think about breathing is trying to slow my breathing down during a tournament to keep my swing under control.

I exhale almost completely (like 85%) just prior to the start of my backswing. I then hold my breath throughout the swing. I feel like it helps me stay looser and more relaxed.

I hold my breath as well. Not sure why, I guess it's just something I grew up doing.

The only thing I am aware of is I take one last breath before I address the ball. I don't want to know about anything else because if I'm thinking about my breathing, I'm not thinking about the target. Your brain can only really think about one thing a time, so I don't want lose focus over something that does not really matter in the swing.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

Ive heard of holding your breath during your swing. I know that Tiger holds his breath during his putting stroke.
