I personally hate the feel of any putter with an insert, so it is scotty all day long for me. But putting is all about confidence.. buy whichever putter makes you feel like you are going to sink the put. For some folks that means a high end milled putter... they mentally feel more confident,,,"this dam SC must be a better putter, I paid $300 for it." Honestly, I fall into that camp. Same reason I ride faster on my Calfee bike and Reynolds wheels.. they were dam expensive so I must be faster.. who cares if it is all in my head.. its my dam head and I have to live in it :)

Haven't used a Scotty Cameron so I can't really comment on that, but I got my 2010 White Ice #9 last week and it is a beautiful putter.Looks fantastic, but more importantly it feels great. It has that classy look and feel that only top quality gear can.No idea what the Scotty's are like but after only a week with the Odyssey I can't imagine ever using anything else.
A great shot is when you go for it and pull it off. A smart shot is when you don't have the guts to try it. ~ Phil Mickelson.

MESSAGE FOR EVERYONE. Some people don't realize it but the Odyssey i want, Tour Designs, is a NON insert putter.

And thanks for replies.

I have 3 Scotty Cameron putters and 2 Odyssey putters, and to tell you the truth there isn't a significant difference between the Black Series and the Scotty Cameron. I personally think of it like this; Scotty Cameron is like Porsche, and Odyssey is like Chevrolet. SC markets toward the high-end "boutique" golfer whereas Odyssey has a putter for almost anyone. The SC you are looking at it like a Porsche 911 whereas the Odyssey Black Series is like a Corvette. People might look at the Corvette as inferior since it's just a Chevy, but when it counts on the track it's just as fast if not faster than the 911 while still being a bit cheaper. The Porsche is going to ahve a nicer interior, a better resale value, and an all around more "luxurious" feel to it.

All that being said, if you don't know how to drive, you won't get the most out of the car's performance capabilities and any difference between the two won't be noticable. Same goes for the putters; if you don't have a good putting stroke, the putter you are using won't matter.

As I've posted in other putting threads, I just don't understand that philosophy. In fact, the better your putting stroke gets, the more important things like touch, look and feel become. Therefore, your putter choice becomes all the more important because you can actually discern and appreciate those attributes and really get them to work for you.

To answer the OP's question, the ones you are choosing between are both high end premium putters. Just choose the one that you are most comfortable with and has the best feel to you.

What I was referring to were people that can't break 120 yet buy a Scotty Cameron (along with ProV1's and Vokey wedges) because they think that the putter alone will make more putts. I'm talking about people that are lucky to two putt from 10 feet yet buy a SC putter over a basic Ping putter because it's "better". They don't know how to tell if it's better or not since their putting stroke is not good enough to tell the differences.

Scotty hands down. It's like comparing a Pinto to a Ferrari.

That must be a tricked out Pinto riding on 24" rims. Come on, Odyssey isn't that bad.

But in my honest opinion, I'd say go with the Scotty. Because any model of the Del Mar is my dream putter. The Odyssey does look pretty awesome, too though. I'd test both of them out. On an off topic. I was just wondering how it's possible to have your lowest 9 hole score as a 38, and your lowest 18 hole score as a 69. That's impossible. You must mean 79, right?

Haha. That 69 was on a par 3 course 2 years ago. and the 38 was last year. I'm gonna have to change that one when i can play in feburary.

    • The draft is kind of a crap shoot anyway. It’s a guess whether a player is really going to bloom in the pros. It reminds me of those kids I went to college with who were high class rank and 800/800 SATs and flunked out freshman year. College FB is a lot different than the NFL.
