PowerBilt is back....

I hit the PowerBilt Air Foil nitrogen filled irons at the PGA Golf Show last week. Man are they sweet!
They feel better than the Callaway Fusion irons.....I hit the 6 iron....12 shots...all of them dead freakin straight.
The same with the 4 iron.......This is one of the best iron sets to come along in years.....and it's not a gimmick.

I thought this was going to be a thread about persimmon woods. I've never hit a PowerBilt iron that I really liked - not like the woods anyway. Good to hear though, it's a classic name in the business.

I also hit the Air Force One Driver....10.5 and 12.5 degree....very nice....can't tell distance as it was indoors at the convention center.

I tried out the 3, 5 & 7 fairway woods, along with the hybrid 4.....all were very easy to hit.

PowerBilt has a homerun....if they can market it correctly.

You didn't get it. I admit it was a stretch but . . . I was envisioning commercials with Nelly, waddling up to the tee in baggy pants, high tops with the tongues hanging out, and rapping - about his air force ones, of course, and his matching driver.

On second thought, holy crap! The club is already 63% off! PB is def not off to a good start.

I bought one of their hybrids to give the whole hybrid concept a go. It was OK, but it wore out almost instantly, the face is just a smeared mess of metal. I don't think they are going to break through anytime soon to be honest. They are owned by Louisville Slugger (Hillerich & Bradsby), so I don't think they are going to really lose much if they don't sell a lot of clubs, more like just simmer for the next few decades.

Don't know about the infomercial thing.........just know that the new 2G version of the driver along with the new nitrogen charged irons perform very well.

Don't get rid of your old driver before you go out and buy this one. The USGA Rules on clubs make it hard to legitimately make clubs hit farther. So unless the face yields straighter shots, then its not going to better than any other club out there. Plus if you don't have the pressure set just right for your club and put a stronger than normal swing on it, don't you risk damaging the club if the nitrogen level is too low? It seems like more of a hassel than a help.

I was thinking the same thing. The faces on these things are incredibly thin, and how you could make a driver with a gas bag that would not leak is anyone's guess. I think this is just another gimmick.

Just remeber...Drivers are made and tested with 110 mph swings.......if your swing is less than 110 mph then you can't benefit from the so called trampoline effect on the club face. Powerbilt's new technology is designed to help those with less than 110 mph swings.

Each driver model is offered in two face thicknesses - 2.6 mm and 2.8 mm. This compares to 3 mm or thicker for a conventional premium driver. The thinnest face, 2.6 mm is designed for golfers with moderate to slow swing speeds while the 2.8 mm face is designed for golfers with fast swing speeds of 100 mph and higher. All drivers are filled with up to 110 psi of nitrogen gas. The thin faces allow golfers of all swing speeds to compress the face at impact to gain maximum C.O.R. (or C.T.) and maximum Smash Factor. The face thickness on the fairway woods and hybrids is a mere 1.6 mm

Finally got to swing my new Air Foil Driver (10.5 degree; Regular fujikura shaft).

I hit it along with my cobra L5V; and it blew the Cobra away!...Consistently 10 to 15 yards longer.

The feel off the driver was soft. The sound at impact was crisp, but not loud like a Cobra.

Overall, I was consistently longer down the middle of the fairway......it stays in my bag!

I was going to say it probably isn't conforming but it is.

Just be careful.... you might be hitting it good now but a week or two later after the honeymoon period things might change...

You may not be trying to sell anything, but you are just regurgitating the pseudoscientific claptrap on their website. This is one of the most gimmicky things I have ever seen in a golf club and I've seen a few.
