I am so desperate to hit the course. I finally am at a point in my career where I can golf on a regular basis and afford to do so.

I have spent 3 -4 days a week at the dome during the winter. I think this spring and summer is the time I finally begin to become a consistent golfer because I will be able to play more then 5 - 8 times a year.

But as the snow was melting and grass was beginning to be seen, mother nature decided to dump another 6 inches of snow on us here in mid Michigan yesterday.

I am desperate to get outside and hit the course.

I could afford more golf when I was younger, single, and lived in a one bedroom apartment. Thanks to a mortgage and saving for the future, I wave goodbye to a season's pass every month.

My wife actually encourages me to golf more, because she knows how much I love it. However, she does not endorse the amount of time I spend on-line or the iron sets I pick up on Ebay.

i'm with you guys, can't wait to get out there. i moved south a few years ago and thought it might benefit my game, ha, not working out thus far. it was so nice over the weekend, 60*, now it's back to 35*, what a tease mother nature can be. i'll start putting around the house and hitting a few wedge shots over the couch...maybe i'll be able to get out in a few weeks.

at least we have these forums to help satisfy some of the itch.

Michigan guy here as well. Just getting back into golf this spring after about a 10 year hiatus. I can't seem to stay out of golf stores as I watch the snow melt and then get dumped on again.

I'm a Clevelander, so I feel your pain on the winter. I last played a round on December 27th, and that one was quite a stretch with snow flakes in the air. I've been at my range (heated and covered) every Friday-Saturday-Sunday of 2010. I'm hoping in a few weeks we should be out playing again.

I haven't been able to play since November 29th. Kinda sucks that I haven't even been able to hit even three balls with my new clubs that I got for Christmas. Christmas day I hit two balls with each club but because I didn't feel like losing too many in the snow and having them sit under a blanket of snow all Winter.

Career Bests:

9 Holes--37 @ The Fairways at Arrowhead-Front(+2)

18 Holes--80 @ Carroll Meadows Golf Course(+9)

Home Course:

1) The Fairways at Arrowhead

2) Mayfair Country Club

What range do you go to? I'm about 45 minutes away from Cleveland and being that I haven't swung a club since Christmas day I'd make that drive without hesitation.

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
    • Day 136 12-26 Had a different practice planned today but life happened. Worked on "wide to wide" and still working on remaining flowy. Starting the club head in front of the ball as a drill, is helping with the flow of the swing.
