This really annoys me, and I want some thoughts.

I practice at a decent range, all real balls, all grass, right? Well, the place has 4 plattes, one per week, so they can rotate about once a month. The problem is, the fronts of the second one, and the entire 3rd and 4th one are not level anymore. They are uphill. The back one is severely uphill, maybe 3-4°. I go to practice, and I hit maybe a dozen good shots, then my swing goes to crap, and nothing is right. The impacts always feel really heavy, and I just get frustrated. To make it worse, when it gets back to level again, my swing is suffering, my head is popping up, I'm sliding too far forward, and I have to fix the flaws.

What should I do? Most of the really good players simply stay home when the range is uphill, but I love to practice, and I practice nearly every day. I need my fix. Is there something I can do, or what? There is one less glorious option, which is to go to the sides and practice from the rough. The management doesn't seem to mind too much, but A. it's the rough, and B. it's really bad rough.

I am thinking if enough people inform the management, they can relevel it. They have earth moving equipment, but seem to be uninterested in fixing it. Any ideas?

Find a new practice range.

I would email or call management first. If they don't seem interested I'd just let them know they are losing business on the days the uphill plattes are in use.

Find a new practice range.

Not an option. First of all, I have a membership, so I pay by the year. If I left now, I'd be tossing away hundreds of dollars. Second, this is the range I use on the west coast, and it's already 10 miles away. The next closest range costs more, and is about 18 miles away. It's nearly impossible. I like Da Sports Guy's idea, but I know the manager, he's a decent guy, but he's not famous for making the smartest decisions on what to fix or update.

Platform shoe for your back foot? LOL

Yeah that sucks. A range near me that has grass, is the same way on the back part of the hitting area. I refuse to hit when the tee line is back there.

    • A strong grip cups the wrist (lead) and then it wants to flatten through impact, something I used to be able to avoid to keep it from going left and protecting my forearm (the main premise of my set up). Longer the club, harder it is becoming. Either way, yes, I need to transition to gripping it open.
    • Why don't you grip it "open" so you can return your hand to the place where you're comfortable/not sore, but the ball won't go left? It's effectively weaker… without actually "being" weaker?
    • Day 47 - 2024-11-16 Light backswing work with about 3 or 4 rehearsals for every ball hit. Only about ten minutes while waiting for a potential member to show up (he was 25 minutes late). 😛
    • Idk but I would have to imagine that a putter that is aimed where you think it's aimed would be the most important aspect of a putter
