Just a short vid my girlfriend took on my cell sorry it is crappy.

I know my stance and footwork needs help (I did not have my golf shoes with me). I am hitting the ball straight for the most part, just feeling weird.

I won't mention anything but your stance and take-away for now, as it is the first you need to fix.

I've attached a picture of Tiger and Charlie Wi, drawing some lines.

- Hands closer to the body
- Taller
- Knee flex may be fine, perhaps a little less, but it will change when you stand taller
- The club shaft angle will improve when you correct the above
- Your hands are too low, as seen on the picture, yours are closer to the knee than Tiger. This will also get better when you lift the upper body.

On the second picture you see that your hands move out and away from the body, increasing the distance even more. While Charlie Wi get's them deeper behind himself, closer to his body.

I suggest not working on anything else for some time, it will only make things harder. Use a mirror or have someone watch and guide you, that makes it easier. You should also check and monitor this with the irons. Take your normal stance, draw the hands closer and lift your upper body higher.

1st of all...golf shoes wont change the way you set up your feet!!! Your set up wlll be the same in tennis shoes or golf shoes. Get a $2 alignment stick at Lowes/Home Depot..maybe 2 of them..place them on the mat for your feet ..and maybe the other up towards where your ball is for swing path. See the line in the concrete???? Your back foot it is down the middle and the front foot it is at the tips..the visual you need is both heels are on that line. " Its not what feels like square..it is what square feels like"

I am not sure but your grip looks really really strong..look it up but simply your right hand may need to roll up so that it is on top of the grip or towards the top. Right now that is hiding what may be a huge slice.

If you look at the "still shot" that is in your post before you run the tape...THAT still shot is a better stance! Once you get ready to hit you scrunch down I think your stance is OK but you do reach abit out...your hands should hang closer to your body..they should hang naturally from your shoulder sockets not extended ....I think that position makes that weird lifting as you hit..because there isnt enough space for your body and club to try to all fit in that space as you swing thru the bottom of the pass. Stand up alittle..but keep that good straight back position.

I think he meant that he doesn't have the same grip without golf shoes.

Wow Great infor guys! Thanks a lot.

Yeah I did notice I was extending my arms a little. What is a good drill to get the hands inside throughout the whole swing?

A simple drill that I think works well...use a small towel tucked under the left armpit. Take your swing and the towel should only drop after the ball has launched. It will force you to keep your arms closer to body....swing around your body. After the drill you may find some happier natural "middle" ground.

    • You get a penalty stroke because your local committee didn't do their job, they didn't address the specific conditions using the tools available to them within the Rules.  The rulemakers contemplated just this situation, bunkers being so filled with Temporary Water that they're unplayable.  The only way to address it "fairly" is to allow free relief outside the bunker, and they do NOT want to allow that on an everyday basis.  So they write the rules as it is, and allow the Committee to override the normal rule in the rare instance where the bunker really is full.  That's what your "local league" does, they invoke Model Local Rule F-16, which treats flooded bunkers as both GUR and as General Area.  Relief from GUR in the General Area allows relief in the General Area (i.e. outside the re-defined bunker).  Its quite a logical way to approach a relatively rare situation. Separately, consider your concern about temporary Water in the fairway.  I've seen situations in relatively level fairways where the Nearest Point of Complete Relief  from Temporary Water is 30 or 40 yards away, further from the green, even in the rough.
    • There you go, @yungbuck6. Your hips aren’t really shifted forward and your head tips back. The camera angle isn’t good so what looks like hip slide could actually just be extension towards the ball.
    • But there's more to weight shift than just where you finish. How your weight transfers throughout the swing matters too.  But you're saying you can see it better than a device that can measure it? Got it.  Yeah I'm good here, good luck to whoever tries to coach you.
