Is there a place where I can order trial packs of multiple golf balls? Like 3 of this and 3 of that, as a means of trying balls to find the one i want to play?

Some golf course club houses sell 3 packs, but they charge through the roof for them. I don't know of anywhere that sells a lot of three packs, but I have seen some behind the counter at golf superstores.

I think it would be best to buy a bunch of used balls. If you can find a golf show or expo or something like that they often have people who sell used balls by the ball.

The golfsmith near me seemed to have 3-packs of most balls. I assumed that was pretty normal.

yeah but they charge a ton for them. I guess I should have clarified that I was looking for used golf balls. I have trouble spending $8-$12 on a 3 pack of golf balls. So I would love to order say 3 bridgestone e6, 3 srixon trispeed, 3 taylormade burners, etc and get them all grouped together

The Golfsmith near me sells balls by the sleeve. Go talk to a manager and see if they will give you a discount if you buy 4 sleeves, as if you were buying a dozen of the same ball. I have done this before and have received something off each sleeve. Or, buy a dozen from them and see if they will allow you to return a sleeve in exchange for a sleeve of a different ball. That may be easier for their record keeping. Good luck.

I know the golf galaxy that I go to always has 3 packs by the checkout lines. They look like they probably came out of open boxes. There's always a good selection and you can usually get them at a good price.

if you can find three other friend who want to do the same thing, you can each buy a dozen of different balls and exchange sleeves.

+1 This is exactly what I was going to recommend.

Ah, used makes sense. The prices didn't seem so bad to me, since $8-$12 for a 3-pack is $32-$48 for a 12-pack, which is about right. The prices seemed a lot better than pro shop sleeves, though.

+2 - why are all the great ideas the most logical?

That is a good idea, but it still doesn't answer my question of if there is a place that exists where you can hand select which balls you want.

I know there are some courses that have bins of lost balls and you can pick and choose and generally at golf shows you can. I was just wondering if a store or web site existed where you could do the same

    • As @iacas wrote “This applies to golf, too. Relentlessly chip away at whatever you’re seeking to change. It’ll add up over time in a big way.”  Have to say my work on key points is seeing consistent results -  slowly chipping away at a better approach game, leading to more GIR and nGIR which makes for easier pars and more up and downs.
    • day 93. Chipping and practice getting a little more comfortable with longer irons
    • 89.    Came less than a centimeter short of my first eagle. Had an ugly triple on the last too. But didn't lose a ball. Now in the last 3 rounds I have only lost 1 ball.
    • Played the same course as yesterday today. 6,860 yards, 72.6. Scored better today. Shot a 37-38 for a 75 and did something I don't recall ever having done before. The par 5's run 522-646-523-557 and I birdied (or better) all of them. They only reason I turned in a respectable round was because I played them -5. I only hit one fairway on the front 9 and then hit 4 on the back. Only hit 9 greens today. I didn't hit the ball well at all today, but putted pretty decently. Just was in a weird swing funk. 8 bogies, 6 pars, 3 birdies, and an eagle.
    • Heavy rain from a squall was pounding down. I hit driver on #18 at Pierce Lake to the hole location back right. Probably 230 yards. I knew the shot was good but did not tarry and hustled over to some sheltering trees until the squall passed. Eventually the rain lessened a bit and I jogged over to the green. 6 feet. I missed the putt but the tee shot was still darn good.
