In light of Tiger's recent marital problems, injuries and now, a split from coach Hank Haney.. Do you think Tiger will struggle for the rest of the year and go winless?Or do you think he'll make a quick comeback, making necessary swing changes and win before the end of year? Please post and elaborate on your vote.
A great shot is when you go for it and pull it off. A smart shot is when you don't have the guts to try it. ~ Phil Mickelson.

What is there to say, he's still Tiger Woods, one of, if not the greatest, of all time. He might not ever get back to where he was a few years ago, might not dominate and win by 10 strokes, but he'll still win. And this year too. As Iacas said in the other thread regarding Hank Haney's resingation, Tiger will be hitting the ball better inside of one session with whomever he goes with.

If he has a messed up spine, he is done for. JMO

Golfers come back from injuries to their back all the time. Maybe not in the next 180 days, but they come back.

+1.....It's back to prescription meds and hookers for El Tigre.

Nope he wont win this season I dont think, coach gone byebyes, neck FUBAR from wifey club bashing, doubt he will even play much more this season like stiffdogg said. He needs to go watch his Pebble Beach 15 shot killing spree & try to copy his old swing before he has any hope of a winners cheque.

To be fair to him that's probably down to him using 3 wood off most tee's all week. That said though you'd still expect Tiger's 3 wood to be as long as some of the guy's drivers.Furyk etc.I suppose it doesn't help when you're popping those 3 woods up and they're going 180 yards.

It's only the beginning of May. As long as he plays regularly, he'll win. he's Tiger Freakin' Woods.

If he only plays Majors/ infrequently, he may not.

Is this real? Of course he will win, multiple times even.

I dont see Tiger winning this year. The mental aspect of his game simply isnt there right now and thats whats holding him back right now.

Well, let's see . . .

1. One hot wife, scorned, madder than hell and rightly so, packed up with the kids and off to Sweden, with public opinion firmly behind her and he is just waiting for the divorce papers and to find out how big of a check to write and which holidays he gets the kids as well as the regular visitation days and trying to fit all of that into his schedule. You haven't heard anything of late in regard to his marriage, fixing it or otherwise. That alone is stress enough.
2. Public opinion, iffy at best, mostly negative for Tiger, including many of the talking heads in the media.
3. A dominating, tournament caliber swing is lost and nowhere in sight, for the time being anyway.
4. Golf coach quits on him and none in sight.
5. A bad neck and who knows how serious that is, and could ultimately require surgery, then rehab, then finding out if it can hold up to his swing again.
6. Demoralized and lacking confidence.
7. The media is watching his every move with a microscope, by his own admission.
8. In his favor, the bimbo count as reported by the National Enquirer, is holding at 121. Could there be another one out there somewhere that wants to make a name for themselves and rekindle those flames?

I gave him the benefit of the doubt with one this year but who knows; that's A LOT of baggage to deal with (I'm sure I've overlooked something) for anyone, much less someone that has only wanted to become the greatest golfer ever. Time will tell, but given the current circumstances, he has a ways to go just to get competitive again.

He'll win this year...somewhere. It may come at a flyaway tournament sometime in the fall, or maybe at his end-of-season tournament at Sherwood, but he'll win.

Wow indeed.

All depends on the neck/spine. If he's OK and recovers quickly, he'll win this year. Teacher or no teacher. A bad neck, even without surgery, is a game-killer. DoctorK

Competitive golf is played mainly on a five-and-a-half-inch course... the space between your ears.
~~Bobby Jones~~

I almost spit out my coffee this morning when I was watching an interview where he said that he "pulled out early". Perhaps not the best choice of words considering his past.

iacas - I hope (sort of) that he proves me wrong. I know golfers come back from injuries and he can certainly afford the best medical care in the world. Spine inuries seem to be permanent and unpredictable, especially on day 4 of a stressful event where tension easily builds up. Again, JMO.

I'm really surprised that a lot of people don't think he will win. Has there ever been a year he hasn't won?
