What are some pros and cons for a walker that rides occasionally? Which do you prefer?

I prefer carrying my clubs, and I like to carry them in a Ping stand bag. Some bags fit into pull carts and power carts better than others.

Stand bags are way more manageable, and most manufacturers have designed hole setups that really spread out the clubs...

Cart bags, unless you're ALWAYS on a cart, are awful to manage if you ever want to walk.

A cart bag really only offers larger pockets and a greater likelihood that you'll get a 14-way divider (many stand bags have 14-way dividers too, though). If you use it on a cart, nothing lost. If you're ever going to have to carry it, the task of carrying will be far more annoying.

Conversely, a stand bag loses nothing when placed on a cart and many have sizable pockets as well. And when you carry it, well, it's designed for that.

IMO, a stand bag can be used perfectly in both scenarios, but a cart bag is only good for one of them. I usually carry (or pull, depending on how my shoulders/neck feel), and only occasionally ride. I went with a carry bag, and I would every single time.

Mid staff bag, works great with a caddy, on a cart, or push cart

Stand bag, does everything, but it's harder to get clubs in and out

Range bag, good for trips to the range, lol just throw a few clubs in and off you go to the range

I was going to ask something similar. I have had stand bags in the past, but my wife saw a really nice Staff bag for cheap. She wants to get it for me but i'm not sure. Are these too bulky for the back of the cart? Will I look like a tool using a big staff bag, because well, i'm not very good lol. I just figure most guys who have the leather staff bags are either good or really spend a lot of money on golf. I'm leaning toward telling her to get it and i'll try it out, but just wanted some opinions.

    • Day 228 4-4 More hip/chest turn and wrist arching. Working on hinging wrist a bit later. Foam balls.
    • Day 27 (4 Apr 26) - Worked with grandson on basic pitches/punches in the back yard with varied irons/wedges.  Wrapped up the day rolling some putts on the 30’ carpet I can set up in the yard to give varied terrain - and this carpet rolls almost too easy. A great way to figure a read and know that pace has to be near perfect to get in the hole.
    • A bit of a struggle today.  Just some thoughts/musings.  For the backswing, it is like I am never going to be moving on from this. I don't know if I can ever get to the point where the backswing isn't like over 1.5 seconds in duration. Which is probably not ideal. I would like to get to the point where I can just fling the arms back and up.  I have to feel like my hands are going to hit my right thigh from P1 to P2. If not then they like to move 2-5 inches towards the ball from P1 to P2. Then it's just bad from there. This feeling is my hands not gaining much depth, just maintaining depth from set up. From the DTL view, the hands head towards the camera.  While I am doing that, hinge the crap out of the club with my wrist only. Hinge in a way that the club is pointing at the camera at P2.  From P2, lift the hands straight up. I can get here, and still roll the club inside and get it way too shallow.  With the downswing. There isn't much here. I still can't get the flow of this or the sequencing of this to line up. It doesn't help that hinging from P1 to P2 just throws off my entire timing as well.
