Sorry for asking the wrong question. Been learning stack & tilt the past month, can't think of one reason to lift the front foot - apart from winning two majors doing so :D
I assume that you are swinging it conventional - disregard my question. Adding a face-on video would get you better tipps re swaying etc.

All the best!

Your meant to have the weight on the balls of your feet.....

I meant that it looked like he was on the balls and toes, instead of solidly balanced on the balls and heels.

Ok guys,

I went to the range to work on my right leg.

How does it look now?

I was hitting it further than ever. Maybe an extra 15-20 yards. And make far more consistent contact.

Thanks!

Hey, seems I asked the right question though. OK, you won't win 5 majors now...

Nice work, nice swing!

OK, next wrong question: Why is your right arm so far away from your torso? If it were nearer, could you stay on the shaft plane between P5 and P6 (downswing, arms parallel to the ground and on)?

Please post a face-on video next time!

Far away form my torso at what point? I think this is me trying to keep my takeaway stright out rather than on the inside ( which it's still doing anyway :) )

You'll see it at P3 and P4 (lifting your arms is a no-go with S&T), but thats not what I meant. You would see P5 and P6 at the face-on view.

I just managed to freeze the video at impact. Nice. Think you are getting good enough for a hi-speed cam now :D

This has always been an issue with me...my backswing is too quick....everyone I golf with says I need to slow it down but when I try, it throws everything off and I chunk it or something.

I was the same way.. Played golf with a good buddy who is a low hadicap .. he told me this at the range.. so now I have been working on it.. so far my swing feels better, Im making better contact, hitting the ball more consistent. and about the same distance.. But who wouldn't want accuracy over distance right?

lengthen the back leg in the back swing. you're squatting down in the backswing, you can't get any leverage and help from gravity if you're already in that position. plus, keeping a good tempo will be loads easier.

This is a hard thing for me to do for some reason. I try, but it still bends ( usually more than in the video )

What drills can I try to help me out with this?

watch this vid of erik, cause if you get your shoulder plane right, then the leg will follow suit automatically.

Wow, thanks. In my DTL video I see my shoulders change degrees so much:

Would this explain some pull hooks i experience? And the fact I have to stand so far from the ball to make good contact?

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
