Fair enough. Your swing is looking better and better, btw. You're doing a great job keeping the face square to the plane, and your impact position is certainly improving too. Nice.

It's cool to see your progression in the thread, thanks for posting. What kind of camera are you using, btw?

yea I kinda of want to delete those old videos to be honest, lol. I literally hadnt played or swung a club in 10 years. I really wanted lessons to have a fundamentally sound swing. Im using a casio fh-25, I might get a better quality if I had a better video card but I dont want to spend the money on it. Maybe some day

So this question is for Erik, originally asked in the wrong thread. How would you instruct me to perfrom the downswing from P4, like arm angles or any feelings, to essential perform the downswing like what you did in your My swing video. thanks, just trying to learn as much as I can from people who study the swing like me.

btw, Im wanting that charli wi downswing like this video

Me too!  Charlie is pushing his hips forward while keeping the head centered.  The hips/belt buckle are going forward so the hands can stay on the circle and the shoulders turn on their incline .  Here is a good example.

thanks for the video.yea that was one of the things I really worked on and was concerned about in my swing for awhile, saw that video on golfwrx as well. Really good to see it coming from Bennetts mouth teaching someone. Im working on the arm angles and clubhead angles right now, really gives you that charli wi look.

Hey i like your progression so far.  This is my impression of what you are looking for but not sure if you would want to take this for...so take from it what you want or just pass over it.

and by the way i used to keep a very shut clubface but it created different issues in my swing.  So here is what i see.

Your clubface is very shut on your takeaway and still closed at the top.  This means that you have to compensate from the top into impact and through the ball.

That means that instead of letting your body fire through the ball to close the clubface, it has to stop to allow your hands and clubace to hold their angles if not open up to allow you to square it back up at impact.  This is why you flip the club.  It is also why your body looks a little scrunched up at impact.  And you can tell by how your left elbow kind of lifts out right after impact that your clubface is trying to stay open.

So i would takle the shut clubface issue to get to the move that you seem to want into and through impact.  Hunter Mahan is a player that comes to mind as one to look at for this move.

Some thing to do might be-

- Take your normal takeaway back to the point where the shaft it parallel to the ground and then make the toe point almost all the way up (instead of straight in front of you).  then take a normal swing from there.  Try to get a little bit of a feel from that.

- Thats all that i can think of right now haha

So take from this what you want.  It is just my opinion of what i see.. Good luck, i like the improvement from your first videos to the last ones.

wow, I opened a can of worms bringing up this thread, lol.Thanks west for your time and advice. The swing everyone is watching is old though, Ive done some work on it since then so I really need to post a new swing for any instruction. I was just asking Erik for some general instruction on the downswing, nothing related to what Im doing. Like if he was writing a book how would he instruct someone to perform the downswing.

btw, yea the clubhead and arm angles im working on right now. I dont like it where its at in the old video either

Start of the new season for me and first drill Im working on is getting rid of early extension(coming off the wall). What do you guys think so far? Hip turn was a little short on the backswing from being too close to the chair, Il fix that next time.

one thing to add as well. this is a great drill to do but after watching some of the video, if you are too close to the chair it can make your swing a little too much all arms on the backswing (I noticed this while swinging too but I really wanted to stay on the wall). I would recommend standing a tiny bit farther away from the chair so you have room to do a proper hip turn and touch chair, then slides against it during downswing, then left hip touches it on finish. Really gave me a feel of whats its like to stay on the wall though, which was great, a different feel than what Im use to but I really like it. Almost feels like a dustin johnson finish, which is what comes to mind when I hit my finish. He has one of the best spine angles kept through the swing.

Hope this drills helps people out there who struggle with early extension in their swing. Its often not discussed that much and its very important.

went to the range today and was hitting some great shots. Tiny draws just by swinging the club without manipulation of face. After the first bucket the pro comes in and is watching me hit balls. He comes up to me and tells me I have a great swing and everything is spot on but I need to shift my weight to my back foot, lol. Gave me a lesson on shifting my weight to my back foot after I told him I like to keep my weight centered on the backswing. He proceeded to watch me and I did it for him just to make him happy,lol. As soon as he stopped looking I went back to my centered swing.

Anyone else run into these teachers on the range??haha

Yeah, there's this guy who is at the range I frequent that tries to help everybody out... he's given me a few tips like to shift my weight, etc... I just told him that I'm not doing that and that I am working on other things in my swing.

thats funny, I didnt want to be rude to the guy so I just listened to what he said and was hoping he would walk away. At one point he took of picture of me at address and was like "ever heard of stack n tilt, Im not an advocate of it" and showed me the picture. It didnt help that I had a training aid to help me stay on the wall, knew I was into getting a better swing.

His instruction was to for my iron shots put my head behind the ball, and have a reverse K at address. then on the backswing shift my weight to my backleg and inside right foot. I tried it a few times to make him happy. Nothing big about it, I hit a couple balls and walked out to the bathroom hoping he would leave.

Does that drill promote a flip? Looks good until the moment of truth (impact) then flippage. j/k - hard to tell from DTL.
