I need help... my putting.. I don't know what happened to it... but I'm not sinking any putts! It has been almost a week that I'm like this... it's really frustrating... On monday I played 9 holes... I hit 9/9 GIR's, but made 19 putts for a +1! And all week long had been the same story. If I don't hit the put with the right speed, it's a miss-read... aghhh! Frustration! I like the wat I'm hitting the ball right now... but my putting is killing me!

How can I practice to roll more putts in! Please!

Greetings!

switch putters for a week to get your mind off of it. For a week you'll have an excuse and then it'll all start happening again. Don't overthink it, see the ball going in the hole make it natural.

Well how are you missing your putts; Short, Long, High, Low?

Putting is simply distance control and making a straight putt along with a few tips to reading greens. The most important part of putting is distance control.

1) How do you current judge distances of your putts?
2) do you pull or push straight putts?
3) what problems do you have reading greens?
3a) uphill, downhills breaking putts?

Putting stats can be misleading. How close were your approaches? Maybe you were leaving the ball in the wrong places, even though on the green?

Two quick diagnostics, while on the course. Look at the hole on a few short putts, or putt one-handed as you approach the ball (for short putts or long putts) to see if you're aiming where you think you're aiming. The other is putt from the middle of the green to the fringe - in all directions - to gauge your weight.

1) I take a look to the putt, then walk to from the ball to the cup and count the steps, I think that gives me some sense of the distance.

2) I tend to pull them. 3) In short putts, I tend to search for a break when sometimes they are straight. For long putts, it's the amount of break... 3a) Uphill, downhill putts I have no problem. But the first sentence of your post, it's an intresting thought, never heard of that, can you explain it a bit more, please? Thanks!

The three-putt I had that day, the first putt was difficult, but the second one was around 3 feet, but I didn't read it well... from there 2 putt on every green. At the:

3rd 12 footer, ball passed above the hole but almost touched the lip of the cup. 4th, 9 footer, passed below the hole. 6th, 12 footer, ball passed below the hole. 7th, 10 footer, ball hanging of the lip of the cup. 8th, 4 footer this one the cup spitted the ball out. 9th, 15 footer, ball passed above the hole. All of them had a chance to go in, seriously. Greetings!

I'ma play a little devil's advocate. How good are you putting wise? how many putts per round do you average? honestly, you played +1 and your handi is 2.1. give yourself some credit for the fact that you could've quite possibly just had a bad day.

I think it depends on the approach shots. Lately my approach shots put me a long way a way so I focus on a two putt. Sometimes I make the long puts because I want to set myself up for a tap in. Too Much pressure on a makeable putt can really screw things up. Nice and Easy and just leave it close. A lot of the times the ball will roll in.

Also a practice tip that I started doing this week. I will be playing a round this afternoon so we will see how it helps but this is what I do.

I take 8 balls and set up roughly 10 feet away

2 quaters and 2 dimes spaced apart in roughly a foot increments. I try and land the ball with a putt or rest it up against the coin with 4 attempts out of 8 balls. It never happens on the first try but if you can hit a coin you will hit the cup

Prorate that for 18 holes and it's right around his index. A couple of those putts shoulda probably dropped, but I'd chalk it up to "rub of the green". Who hits 9/9 greens anyway?

Same problem. I hit 8/9 greens yesterday and shot 2 over. I missed 6 putts from 4 - 6 feet. I am hitting the ball very well and have zero confidence on the greens. Our greens are pretty slick and undulating so I am a little scared to blow it by. I putt fine on the practice green but can't transfer it to the course.

Going out on a limb here - change putters. I sense an MP-11 v. 2-ball related tear in the timespace contiuum. Must . . . hit . . . blade . . .

Funny you post that. I dug out my old Bullseye from the rafters last night after my round. I think the ball comes off my 2-ball like a rocket...making me decelerate.

Putts per round this week had been ugly... 19, (14, 17) 31, 18, 16... those are the putts per round in the last rounds I've played. According to the iPhone App my putting average is 31.2 and the GIR percentage is 65.2%. That's why I think I need to make more putts! Hehe!

Thanks for you help, keep it coming! Greetings!

If your touch really is gone, it's unlikely that your mechanics have gone south. Change your mind. Go the practice green and start making putts. Practice a lot of one-footers. Then two-footers. Put the ball in the hole over and over again. Practice never missing. Your subconscious mind, which does not understand nuance, starts to believe you are a tremendous putter.

Check your chipping, too. How many up and downs do you get on the 35% of the greens you miss?

Distance is more important than line. focus on judging your distance more than focusing on the line of every putt. How is your distance control while putting?

Try getting back to the athletes of putting and forget about mechanics(asumming yours are ok). I often putt with just my right hand(right handed golfer) and get back to the feel of distance. Stroke a bunch from different distances with just your right hand and see if that helps.
