..for the rest of your life what would it be? Most of us have a few favorite drills that we use to stay on track or right the ship when things fall apart. Maybe you hit balls with your feet together, or do something with an impact bag, or put with only your left hand, or make swings with a glove under your armpit. It could be any number of things. I guess another way to ask this is, what drill do you think does your game the most good?

Right foot back drill, which can be modified to accopany many drills

Right foot ball chip drill, helps get the feeling of having weight on front foot while chiping.
Right foot full swing, gets the feeling of comming from the inside and keeping that stacked left side.
Right foot right arm only swing, practice the feeling of a proper follow through

This one is very nice ;b

Its a tough call (which is why I started this thread) but I think I'd have to go with golf glove under the arm pit.

Probably the 4 club alignment drill which ingrains the feeling of an inside out swing (golf magazine drill tip)

Really? Thought this was an outdated drill.

Really? Thought this was an outdated drill.

It is the only drill I have ever found that gets me back to hitting it straight. When I start spraying it, I can spend an hour or so on this drill and like magic, I can play golf again. I know it doesn't work for everyone but for whatever reason, it helps me...

The 9 to 3 drill. This really solidifies the supination of the wrist combined with hips driving the golf swing through impact. Since impact is the most critical part of the swing this is where I have seen the most results. Today I was doing the drill hitting little fades and draws.

the Makita Cordless drill. With proper alignment it promotes just the right amount of spin to make the hole.

Here is the drill that has dropped my handicap into single digits. Getting into early position to hit. Gary Player was a proponent, stepping into his shots. As he pointed out, balance is key to this move because your backswing 'sling' is the motor to moving you to the left side and there is a lot of energy to dissipate (hence his step into follow through).

This is interesting. I have seen this mentioned before but I am afriad I do not fully understand it. Is it as simple as addressing a ball such that it is outside the left foot and taking half swings? Is the focus of the drill to improve the downswing/weightshift? Please elaborate if you dont mind.

The left side reaches for the target...right side reaches for the sky.

Are you supposed to hit the ball straight cos i can see dirty slice all over it if i try this one.

The 30, 40 and 50 foot lag putting drill (from Mickelson's short game dvd). Was doing it tonight after having a few bad putting rounds and hopefully got my putting back on track!

The S&T guys do this with a tee under each arm. 1/2 swings, focus on sliding the hips forward. People are usually surprised how far they hit it.

Stretch.

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
