I simply use a groove brush after every shot to free the dirt/grass/ball covering from the grooves, wipe them off with a bag towel after and that's it. I see them as tools that will dirty/worn and am not to anal about cleaning every speck of dirt or stain off the clubs. Besides they are not a $1,000 + set, regardless I don't think I would go overboard with cleaning them. Sure if I was about to sell them or knew I was a golfer who changed clubs every year I would be more deligent in my cleaning regime.

If you want to hit good shots you got to keep the grooves clean if nothing else. I try & carry a soft brush & a damp cloth to wipe the heads after each shot & every couple of rounds clean them properly along with cleaning my shoes. Clean kit makes you feel good & play good.

I wipe the dirt/grass off of them after every shot. Then, after my round I wash them and scrub the dirt off with a soft-bristled club brush. My irons and wedges are forged, so I have to use a soft-bristled brush (not brass) so that I dont contaminate and wear down the grooves.
Thats pretty much it. I dont use irons covers because it only promotes rusting. Covers may prevent the dings cause by the clubs rattling, but I'll take some dings over rust any day.

I was just fixing to order a set of iron covers. What do some of you others think about covers and rust? Have you had a problem with the covers? I've had covers on my cheap 250.00 set for over 5 years, but I haven't noticed any rust. hmmmmmm

i wipe them down after every shot with a wet towel.

i clean the irons with hot water and a brass brush after EVERY round, and the woods with a terry towel soaked in warm water. my woods have never seen a brush of any kind.

i dont clean the grips, i just replace them every year.

its kind of overboard yeah, but i store my clubs in the extra den, so they dont need to go in there dirty. (and i'm a bit ocd when it comes to dirty clubs, i will NOT hit a club with dirt on it, not even at the range)

They might be stainless steel? If so, I'd be very surprised if they would rust, or ironically, if they'd even need headcovers.

a quick wipe with a towel after each shot and will sometimes take my tee and pick at the grooves during down time.

every couple weeks or so, I'll actually rinse it out with a brush.

With my driver, I try to hit the ball less than 300 yards, so I don't use up all the distance in one season.

So far, I have been very successful in conserving driver distance.

Now THAT'S funny! Actually laughed out loud!

I am in the camp of wiping off the club after every shot. My county club has club washers on all the carts, so if I'm riding I have the advatage of just dipping the club in there and wiping it dry. Otherwise at the end of the round I'll grab a spare towel and some water and wipe them all down and clean the grooves with a tee. Occasionally, if I'm mad at my clubs for abandoning me during the round, I'll set my bag outside the pro shop and head for the bar for a scotch, and in about 5 minutes one of the cart boys has cleaned them for me.

I carry a pretty damp towel as well as a dry towel on my bag. After each shot I just wipe them down with the damp towel, if there is dirt in the grooves I use the dry towel. I just prefer a clean look at address is all. The range I go to has a lot of sand and it builds up pretty good so if I have some time when I get home I do a quick clean in a bucket of water and a pot scrubber. Never wash the grips, I don't see why it's needed. I do re-grip every fall though.

After each round I get a bowle of warm water with some soap in, I clean the heads of all my clubs that I have used with a soft bristle brush and then wip clean with a dry towel.
Every month I will clean the grips, again with soapy water and a soft bristle brush they towel dry.
I also clean my ball and wipe my shoes over (clean the mud/grass off the soles during winter)

I carry a club towel that I give the club a quick wipe with after each shot. For deep cleaning I use a old tooth brush and warm water. I carry sand paper in my bag for when my grips get a little slick. I hate the tackiness of new grips, (weird huh?) so i try to extend the life of my current ones.
My shafts get a good dry wipe down when ever I deep clean the heads.

I go easy on groove cleaning and only use a tooth brush because the copperface on my older Tourney irons. I'll use a golf tee to lightly clean the grooves during a round.

Just a quick wipe of the clubheads and grips. Every now and then, ill bang them on a couple of trees to just let them know who is in charge.

i wash them after every shot then after the round. i use a soft bristle brush because the wire bristle one wears down on the grooves. every week or so i sharpen the grooves with a normal groove tool and i always wet the clubs down before i wash them. washing the grips off is a good idea but never let water get under the grips because theyl get lose and if you do wash the grips dont put them back into your bag until there all dried out. i wouldn't do this too often because it definitely can wear out your grips.

How does sharpening work? I have noticed my 64 in particular loosing it's spin, just not the same. It is almost 2 years old now. I bought the groove tool but I don't have a vice so I haven't used it yet. Will it get them back to there original spin?

In terms of the thread I just use water, a plastic brush, and wash the grips, heads, dry. I try to keep clean during the round.

I would suspect it's only true if you didn't wipe your clubs off be for putting them on? I've been using them for years and my dad even longer and neither have ever had a problem,(both my sets are forged) and trust me my dad is super anal about keeping them like new as I kinda am too it's how I was taught..!! So I would defiently recomend them.! I personaly use the neopreen type ones there not big and chuncky like some others.

I usually clean off any dirt or grass after every shot. And then after the round Ill make sure to clean them well. I work at a pro shop at one of the local country clubs and its amazing how many of the members but the nicest clubs but refuse to clean them, and by refuse to clean them im talking like cleaned less than once a month. yeah it gets bad

I just cleaned mine for the first time. They've been used 3 rounds now and were pretty dirty. I used the bowl of mild detergent and an old toothbrush to clean them to a like new look. The little wife did the same. We were sitting on the patio at the campground last week while drinking our coffee and cleaning the clubs made good use of the leisure time, but by the time we were done with the cleaning, we sure were wishing we were on the course, making them dirty again.
