Onto the Ryder Cup team? Is he serious? Cory better be wearing double hearing protection for the rest of his life.

Pavin is the worst pick as a captain...USA loses. The guy has the personality of my 9 iron. Won't return Azingers calls and refused to sign autographs at this years transitions championship....way to fire up the fans Corey!

So this forum is lashing out at him because he is doubting Tiger Woods current playing ability?

I thought I have seen it all when it comes to Tiger envy until now

The US Ryder Cup qualifying standards are based on money earnings. Every $1,000 earned during last year's majors and this year's non-majors count as one point; every $1,000 earned during this year's majors are worth two points.

Tiger's 11th in Ryder Cup points right now, within striking distance of the top 8 who automatically qualify for the team. If he plays decently over the summer, reaching the qualifying threshold won't be an issue.

Do you really think Tiger cares about the Ryder Cup?

But the team captain gets 2 picks. Lets say Tiger has a bad summer?

I don't know him that well. I've never even met him - true story. What does he care about?

He will at least make a pretence that he cares for image (damage control)?

Pavin's right on this.If Tiger's still playing like he is come October, why should he be there? You have to pick whoever's in form. And Tiger doesn't scare players the way he used to , so he's not going to win matches on intimidation alone anymore.
A great shot is when you go for it and pull it off. A smart shot is when you don't have the guts to try it. ~ Phil Mickelson.

He's still ranked no. 1 and is probably a player others don't want to meet in match play, regardless of results. So put up with players of equal results, I can understand why he would choose Tiger. But he can't pick him just because he is Tiger and ranked no. 1. Everyone wants to win The Ryder Cup, I don't see why Pavin should pick a player that is not playing well. Tiger is improving, so lots can change from now to October, Tiger might play himself into the top 8.

If he however does not improve, and is not playing well, I understand if Pavin does not pick him.

tiger is rubbish in the ryder cup anyway from recent years he is a useless team player so who cares

it would be a very risky move. if Tiger doesnt play his way into the team and Pavin decides to not choose him as one of his picks and you then go on to lose the cup to us then Pavin better be prepared for the backlash

Tiger is a great talent that is just not playing well (understandable) but how many Ryder cup teams has Tiger been on that the US won. He has only been on 1 (1999). Tiger has been on 6 Ryder cup teams and the US has only been able to win 1 with Tiger on the team. I could understand people being shocked that Pavin said this but its not like Tiger has put the past teams on his shoulders and pulled out some wins for the team. Out of the last 7 Ryder cups the US won 2. 1 with Tiger (1999) and one without (2008)

    • Day 29 (9 Dec 25) - PW dink and rolls as well as low flighted chips.  Dink and rolls - set up with club head toe down/heel up to promote low flight, plenty of roll out.  Low flighted pitches - club flat on the ground to get ball up a Rick more and check more.   No more than 10yds total distance - focus on getting the ball to finish near (within 10’ dia circle) the target “pin”…
