Another vote for the Bridgestone E series ball here. The E5 is great. It's a two piece ball with a urethane cover. So you get great distance with good spin rate. They check up nicely and I was even able to get some backspin. It is supposedly their "high launch" ball, but I dont find it to fly that high. The only negative is that, personally, I don't find it to play all that soft. Doesn't feel hard like most two piece distance balls, but it doesn't play soft enough to feel it compress on the mid-short game.

The E7 is supposed to be their "low trajectory" ball. That's the only E series ball I have yet to try, so I can't really speak to it. Flight wise, sounds like it fits the bill for you....but my guess is you won't like it for the short game.

Their 330 series balls are also great, but they are premium balls priced up their with ProV1s. Something you might want to consider..... at Golf Galaxy I recently saw a sample pack. It had 2 balls each of the 330, 330s, and 330rx. Might be a good way to see which one you like.

LOL - not giving that POS a second chance - Callaway already got enough of my money on the first 12-pack. I'd send you the 6 V1 Gamers I have left, but they might fall apart in transit.

Then go with the Taylor Made TP Red/Black or any of the Bridgestones. The Srixons seemed to scuff very easy for me, more so than any other ball actually, but that's purely anecdotal.

In my bag:

Driver: Titleist TSi3 | 15º 3-Wood: Ping G410 | 17º 2-Hybrid: Ping G410 | 19º 3-Iron: TaylorMade GAPR Lo |4-PW Irons: Nike VR Pro Combo | 54º SW, 60º LW: Titleist Vokey SM8 | Putter: Odyssey Toulon Las Vegas H7

Your going to get so many suggestions its only going to confuse your further, but I throw in 2 more:
Srixon AD333 (one of the best all-around balls out there), or the Wilson Staff Zip / C25 (basically the same ball in a different package).

I picked up a box of Wilson Staff C25s at Golf Town this evening. I'll try something from Bridgestone next time - they seem to be a good value - a lot of options and a lot of satisfied customers. No matter which ones I go with from here on, a few dozen balls need a new home - my brother's birthday is coming up!?!?

Thanks for the advice everyone - very much appreciated!!! PS. I may actually try the V2 Gamers later this summer - but I need to get my inventory down first!

You like a soft(er) ball, you want mid-high spin and you're happy to play Wilson. You answered yourself, try the FG Tour ball. Plenty of online sellers at around $30/doz. Converted a couple of single figure friends to it last weekend from their (over-priced, nowhere near as good as they used to be) ProV1s.

Don't know if you saw it but I posted some thoughts on it here the other day.

I did read that review. That and the fact I play Wilsons already kind of had me leaning their way. I'll try out the C25s first - something about the word "Tour" on a ball reminds me of the Ram Tour irons and balls I had for about a month. Total POS there. But, yeah, the FGs will probably end up in my bag eventually.

For what it's worth, I tried the C25s (or DX3s as they are over here) and, although they felt good and performed well, their covers shredded far too easily for me; much worse than the FG Tour.

I'm with you on the use of the word "Tour" in general but in this case the ball probably merits it.

I have used the e5+ for a while and recently tried the gamer v2 and was pleasantly surprised. Not a bad ball for the money and they are on sale at quite a few places from 20/doz down to 14/doz. Like you I am also looking for the perfect affordable ball!
