I'm right handed.
anything 9i down, not usually a problem.

8i and up.. half the time it's straight, half the time i push it right..
what are common causes of this?

usual ball flight = straight (i don't draw or fade), and when i push it, it goes straight right.. doesn't slice.. maybe a slight fade.. but not a bad slice.

any ideas? am i not rotating enough? not following through with my arms?

merci!

Are they going straight right, or going straight and then curving right?

Typical answers are, your swing path is Out to in cause side spin, or your face is open at impact...

I think he answered that:

For me, I had a period where I did that and I was cupping my wrist a bit on the backswing and then not rolling it forward on the swing leaving me with an open clubface. Solution to that, obviously, was to not cup it on the backswing.

i bet you 300 bucks you're moving your head forward on the downswing instead of staying back. pm me for my address so you'll know where to send the check. ;)

hahah no. actually i did a year or so ago.. but that resulted in me pulling my head back and pulling the ball left.

i'm not pushing the ball right. and it's straight right.. straight ball.. not right then slicing.. maybe a SLIGHT fade, but mainly just straight right.. shoots out straight, feels pure, but goes straight right. :(

I am probably all screwed up on this....but if it is going straight right....isn't that a push? Anyway, I had the same problem and for me it was because my hips were turning too fast on my down swing out of sequence. My shots felt pure but went straight right....I thought it was a push but I concentrated on slowing down my hip turn and it went away. Did the head forward thing earlier on too....good luck

Sounds to me like your club face is open just slightly at impact. If your swing is good and you are not cutting across the ball, this will result in a push shot. I have the same problem once in a while. The reason for mine is that I open my club face right away during my back swing. So when I swing I don't give it enough time to close.

Someone posted a video on here about that early. Sorry I don't have a link for it.

Then yes, you're pushing the ball. A push is a straight right ball. The reason is the club path is inside out, and the face is open, but square to the target line. Most common cause? There's 2.

One is that you're aimed right and you just don't realize it. That's very common, and the most likely cause. The other is that you're sliding forward, and hitting it from the inside while the face is still open.

Oh my god.. I meant to say I am NOW pushing it right. What a difference one letter makes! Haha

This is EXACTLY why!! I feel it! so how do i fix it please?

What you feel means next to nothing. If I could diagnose a swing fault by what I feel, I'd not need a camera, or an instructor, or any other tool. You've got a hypothesis, now you need proof.

To fix the slide forward, all you need to do is to keep your head centered throughout the shot, don't let it move forward. To do this, I try to move it back as I swing down.

Could it be just a bad grip? Close the club face ever so slightly and see what happens. Maybe your setup is just off a hair.
