Finally graduated college and have a stable paying job...

always wanted to buy some tiger memorabilia...but now that i can finally afford an autograph, I am not so sure that its worth the investment based on his "past transgressions" = lowered value.

Question: are you still buying tiger stuff?

DO NOT COMMENT...moved over to the general golf thread

Personally, i have never bought anything because "Tiger" was on it. With that said, if you want it, buy it, if not, then don't buy it. I would never buy a piece of memorabilia in hopes of making money...

I dunno. Ive never been much of collector of anything except comic books, but i would guess anything you can get with tiger might be worth it eventually. Especially if he goes on to win 20 majors. History will most likley forget his "transgressions" if he does that.

I bought his Nike VR endorsed irons, so my answer is an obvious yes. To be honest with you, its not a surprising thing given how today's athlete's act anyways. I was actually more surprised the number was lower than it actually was. He's the greatest golfer of our generation, not the greatest man. I think people got the two confused. I'm still a Tiger fan at the end of the day. His actual stripes were different off the greens than what his image was portrayed as, but you at least have to hope that his stripes on the greens always remain the same. That's why we're all enamored with him...

Really, hasn't this Tiger Woods thing played out yet? I mean is it really the biggest tragedy in the world that Tiger Woods has consentual sex with a lot of women? Sure he was married, but is he really the FIRST married rich and famous athlete to have sex with other women?

Kobe Bryant RAPED a woman for crying out loud, bought himself out of trouble, and is back to being the next Michael Jordan. I'm just ready for some other dumb athlete to mess up so the world can move on....

Did you guys hear about the Tiger Woods/Jesse James strip tour? I'm serious, its on Foxnews.com I'm sorry, that was a little off the thread subject, but hey, maybe you can find some memorabilia there!

I am not so sure that its worth the investment based on his "past transgressions" = lowered value.

Sporting memorabilia that is designed and manufactured to BE memorablilia is virtually worthless. It makes money for the person who makes it and sells it the first time. That stuff with photos and autographs and whatever else in frames has almost zero resae value. True memorabilia is not just one photo from a stack of 1000 that the athlete has been paid $10,000 to sign. That stuff is all junk. If you like it for your office or pool room, great, but it is not an investment.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Buy because you want it, not because it will turn a profit. An ex girlfriend got me an autographed (certified and in a nice frame and everything) photo of Tom Watson in 1993. It's a great photo and it meant a lot to me that she went to the trouble. It's probably worth about $20, but I wouldn't sell it for $1000.

I would not pay for it, I never buy that stuff. Have to be given personally if it is supposed to have any real value to me.

Do I think that a signature from Tiger is of less value now than before? In dollars, perhaps, but in personal value such an item would have to me, absolutely not. Tiger is what he is because of his game, and that is how I see him. Nothing that has happened off the course has affected my view on him as an athlete.

Wait, Kobe raped a woman?

The rumour is, it was a human female, but the R word is open for debate.

I think the kobe investigation found that the girl made up most of the allegations and there wasnt any evidence to support her claim of rape.
