Per Golf.com:

NEW YORK (AP) — Newlywed Rush Limbaugh will be brushing up on his golf game. The Golf Channel said Thursday the radio commentator will be the third celebrity featured in "The Haney Project." In the series, Tiger Woods' former coach Hank Haney gives celebrities tips on improving their golf game. The third edition of the series will be taped later this year. It will air next spring. Charles Barkley and Ray Romano were the first two celebrities to get tips from Haney on the show. Limbaugh will also talk about his love for golf in this summer's Golf Channel series "Golf in America." The 59-year-old radio host was married earlier this month in Palm Beach, Fla., to an event coordinator he met at a golf tournament.

This thread should be interesting to say the least....

Barkley was in over his head, and Romano seemed a bit intimidated by Haney. It'll be interesting to see one blowhard coaching up another :)

He was on Live from the US Open on Golf Channel this morning. He says that his miss is a push to the right. No kidding...........

He is very different from Barkley (a former HOF athlete) and Romano (who is in shape). Rush is neither, I would expect him to get his tail whipped if Haney tries to do any work outs like the "Tiger days" he did with Charles.

Hahaha. Over-Under at 2 shows?

You know who would be awesome on that show, Trump, he allready has a show on TV pairing up celeberties, why not get taught by hank.

Rush should be interesting, but he's just doing this for his own ego. his show use to be good, when i was 5 years old and my grandparents listen to him just after lunch. But now he's an idiot.

He's going to say something unbelievably offensive towards Tiger Woods or Lee Trevino between now and the premiere that will have the Golf Channel backtracking, apologizing, and dumping this show to 2:30 AM Thursday mornings, sandwiched by a block of Hammer-X infomercials

Where do you get that? The only people I've ever heard Limbaugh be offensive towards are those he deems to be his political adversaries. He's probably friends with both Woods and Trevino. Folks in those high tax brackets tend to stick together you know.

As to the show I bet Limbaugh will be a much better fit for Haney than either Barkley or Romano. Limbaugh is an avid golfer and plays probably everyday. If Limbaugh is willing to be coached I'm sure he'll be willing to put in the work on the course and in practice that it'll take for his game to improve. Sounds like a pretty good show to me?

I'll bet Rush is the most serious and dedicated student of the three. He brings the same level of intensity to most of his endeavours and typically succeeds accordingly (except his marriages), which drives the left-wing loons nuts.

Having listened to Rush for over the past 12 years I've never heard him say one thing directly critical of anyone's color or creed. He raps performance and what people say. I have to say it exposes you as someone shallow and not caring enough to investigate when you put down someone for not being liked by your friends or those of your political persuasion. Now with that I seldom hear anyone on the right express anything close to the cursing and namecalling that occurs in Liberal meetings and sometimes churches. (Rev Wright comes to mind). So lets keep this discussion to the golf you see on TV and we can all be happy.

It ain't bragging if you can do it.

The only Rush stuff that makes it our seems sorta looney. Not Glenn Beck looney, but still.

It seems like youre protecting somebody you agree politically with more than trying to normalize this thread. Last time he was given a national tv stage it took him less than 2 weeks to make a racially insentitive remark. I really dont think this show will be much different. Haney is no longer tigers swing coach, so he has lost that allure and is just a regular dude now. GC probably brought limbaugh in hoping he would cause some controversy so people watch the show.

Some people's threshold for "racial sensitivity" is way too low these days. Limbaugh dared to say something out loud about McNabb that everyone in the industry was thinking. I'm not defending his position at the time, IMO it was up for debate, but simply saying it was enough for him to get canned. The producers of MNF certainly had that perogative, but Limbaugh gained much more from that episode and his treatment than did any cause those same producers may have thought they were supporting or furthering by the move. I do agree with you that the GC is no doubt hoping that Limbaugh's noteriety will help the show. I'm sure it will. I'm guessing that the main viewer demographic for the GC has more than a passing familiarity with Limbaugh.

Wait. Are you saying that everyone in the industry was secretly thinking to themselves "Donovan McNabb is overrated because the media wants to see a black quarterback succeed?" Do you really believe that?

Look at McNabb's statistics. He's a good quarterback. Period. IMO, he did all he could with the poor receivers he had early in his career. When he had TO, he threw 31 TDs and led his team to a Super Bowl. Even when the comment was made in 2003, McNabb' stats were very respectable, especially for a young QB. I'm sorry, but the only people who were thinking that "Donovan McNabb is overrated because the media wants to see a black quarterback succeed" are racist idiots.

    • Day 303 - Long travel day, so just some mirror swings. Still trying to find that special combination that doesn’t induce hip pain.
    • Day 54 - 2024-11-13 Played 18 at Tobacco Road.
    • ..maybe 1 shot HC change might be a good starting point..
    • Yeah, I have a similar view. I was in the team of 2 and we got down 5 after 5. Get 1 pt if win the hole - whatever that game is called. We lost it 3 down with 2 to play so almost saved it. After the first hole when the single did a putt, then dropped a second ball, made a slight adjustment and sunk it, we thought it wasn't right. We couldn't do anything with handicaps etc so we just made them wait between putts - usually just one of us to putt. We were a 23 and 25 handicappers (probably playing to about 28) and the single was a 16 handicapper, but somehow had a HC of 20 (so that is 1 HC pt already). In terms of making it fair, and changing HC (HC1 + HC2 / 4), I think maybe adding 2 HCs to the double (or taking 2 HC off the single (after the adding and div by 4) might make it fair. Also maybe making a rule that the single couldn't change clubs for the second hit. Hard to say from that one game but possibly: - 2 shot HC adding - can't change clubs for second shot - need to have other team putt in between their 2 putts   Not sure. Do you think you'd still win or have these rules made it unfair the other way? Cheers for thoughts..
    • In that case I double down on my comments - I'll take the single guy and I know if I'm in that match against two similar players I'm pretty confident that I'm the favorite.
