A funny image I found:

You can read some discussion here .

I think too much when I swing. However, I do poorly when I don't think too much. Until I play long enough to ingrain a swing into me, I'm doomed.

BTW, I'm up to around 30 swing thoughts. About 2/3 are now muscle memory. As I commit them to memory, I'll add 1-2 more.

The KEY (!!!) to making changes is taking one thing at the time. Don't try stopping the hip sway and getting the hands deeper at the same time. When hitting at the range or playing a round of golf, keep only one swing thought in your head. You can't always judge the results by the ball, but judge it from how you feel and what the change you are working on is supposed to do.

I've got a couple of swing changes going on at the time. The primary one is a better weight shift, while keeping the upper centers from moving forward. I can feel it through impact when I'm able to do it correctly. I've also got a problem with my backswing length and not maintaining the flying wedge. The wedge will cause me to hit the ball lower, but when I'm working on my weight shift, I don't want to think about my trajectory, since it's not what it is supposed to fix. The weight shift is supposed to fix hitting the ball fat and thin. I will still hit the ball high, but if I manage to keep that one though through the round, I might get some feelings started on how it works.

I'm also hooking the ball at the moment, which is partly because of the flipping (or lack of flying wedge), but my weight shift won't help much in fixing it. So, instead of trying to force a better ball flight, I open my clubface or play with the hook. All I want to know is that I'm working on my weight shift and improving my ball striking. I may not get more distance or any change in trajectory, but the lack of fat shots and the feeling of those good shots give me the feedback I need.

My best swing thoughts consist of music to help with the tempo or thinking only of the target to help with focus.

My all time worst swing thought was the other day when I was three over at the eighteenth, par 5, with 240 left to the hole. The green is surrounded by two wide bunkers with a narrow entry between them in the middle and one on the right side. My playing partners all hit woods and I, against my best judgement, decide to hit the perfect three wood thinking that I can play the sand if needed. In the middle of my back swing I say, you should have laid up. I pushed it right into a bush and had to take an unplayable. I then hit my 60 25 yards to ten feet and miss the put for a 6. Needless to say a poor swing thought of hit and hope leads to poor play.

Thats pretty funny Lately i have been working on one of two swing thoughts when I go out to play. Number one is just to make a nice turn and follow through. The other is to let my hips lead me into the downswing. Everything else I leave at the range. I've been striking the ball much better on the course since eliminating all the thoughts illustrated here lol.

I have a simple document with every single golf note that I've accululated. I just counted, and it's about 80 lines long. A lot are obvious and done automatically, but quite a few I have to focus on. Of course, I can never focus on more than two or three at a time, though.

My 100% looks like his 75%

Yeah, I thought that too. I'm afraid of twisting too much at the top, lest the greater winding make it a longer swing and thus harder to come back to a good finishing position. I only take it back as far as I think I need to.

Ha! That's hilarious. When I'm playing well I have at most one thought in mind (besides my target) when swinging. One thing, that's about all I can handle. That isn't to say there aren't a whole host of things I need to be worried about, but that's a sure way for me to mess everything up rather than get one thing right.

I like how he has a swing thought to remind himself to breath.
