I scared the hole again last night on a P3 playing about 210 to the hole with a stiff breeze in the face. I hit a lazer right at the hole, but it came up 4 yards short. I did make the putt though.

I was playing on my home course Sat from the blues. Stepped up to a par 3 167 and launched a perfect 8 iron that detonated 1 foot from the pin and then spun back and right about 3 feet. I had 3 partners watching and the course was full. I am glad it didn't go in, no way did I want to buy the house drinks for the day. By the way, I 3 putted for a bogey....what a deflating experience.

Just this Saturday I was out playing by myself and came up the a 160 yd par 3. I hit an 8 iron that flew over the green. Since no one was behind me, I dropped another ball and hit it. This one had a nice draw that was tracking toward the pin. The ball hit about 4 ft short right, bounced soft, and rolled past the pin about a foot. Based on the ball mark and path, I'm guessing it grazed the cup.
I would have been completely sick if my first ace would have happened playing by myself, on what was essentially a mulligan (I finished the hole with my first ball).

    • So excited you made it out! I live in Portland and go most springs. If you liked Sheep's Ranch you ain't seen nothing yet. It's incredibly picturesque and with a 2 club wind it's not a cake walk. But as far as the quality of the course in terms of challenge and interest, in my opinion it's easily the worst on the property! Also, Old Mac started as my least favorite (this was before Sheep's Ranch opened). But I listened to the fried egg podcast about it and read through Doak's descriptions and it totally changed my perspective. Now it's fighting for top spot. So excited for you!
