I see those add for all those energy or magnetic bracelets that are supposed to improve your game magically. Has anyone ever tried them? Do any actually work?

I place them in the same trash receptacle with those X-Ray glasses sold in the back of comic books.

If you believe in them, they might help, utilizing the placebo effect. If you don't believe though, I would bet good money it doesn't do much except sit on your arm.

Supposedly they were a cure for arthritis pain and for that reason would improve your swing. For those who believe in 'em, more power to you. They haven't done anything for any of my friends who used them.

They are complete junk, unless you think they're attractive jewelry. There is zero reputable basis for any of their claims. Don't buy them, the vendors are preying on those who don't know any better.

It's based on the placebo effect, as said above. You think it will work, so you start believing it. Personally, I think it's just a bracelet. But it'd be cool to have.

In theory they could actully have some help, from the research I did. But the key to golf is to have a good consistant swing, if you don't have the the handicap wont come down.

It's a placebo. But it's a lot cheaper than the most expensive placebo in golf...a Scotty Cameron.

Whoever came up with the saying, "A bad day of golf is better than a good day at work", is a moron.

You have got to be joking! Is the "reserach" you did reading one of their ads? Where is there any scientific evidence that this nonsense could possibly have any effect?

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

The theory is valid. But the actual effects of the magnets should be questioned and more than likely it is just snake oil.
I have had electrodes placed in my wrist when I fractured my Scaphoid. My wrist was put in a cast off and on for 12 weeks and it didn't heal. I had two options. Try electrodes or surgery. So I tried the electrodes and in 4 weeks it was healed.
I know the voltage of electrodes versus the magnets don't compare and the effect of the magnets should be minimal at best. Maybe wearing one for a year is the same amount of electrodes for one session?
I would say: Don't expect real noticeable results.

The electrical stimulation treatment you received seems to be a real method, although a quick search suggests there's some question as to whether even that is actually effective (One needs to be extremely careful about drawing a conclusion from your case---remember, you gave it four more weeks, maybe the electrodes helped, maybe it would have finally healed on its own. Only through systematic properly controlled studies can you really establish that the method is working, and it seems that this is something of an open question, and the mechanism is not well understood).

However, the physics of what's going on with a small permanent magnet held against the skin is entirely different. There's no "equivalent voltage." The electrodes you placed had minimal magnetic fields, and there is no electric field resulting from the magnets. So your treatment may have worked, but there is zero legitimate evidence for the magnet treatments that I know of.

Magnetic bracelets are about as effective as penis enlarger pills. I kid...the pills actually work.

Yup, that's why I called it snake oil. I have seen infomercials with the magnetic disc to heal injuries. I think it was back in 1996 or so these fall into the same category.

Thanks, I just ruined my keyboard spitting water on it....

I was getting so many of those male enhancement ads that it was flooding my inbox and denying incoming e-mails. I hired a company to look up where they were coming from so I could request a cease and desist. It turned out they were coming from my wife.

Whoever came up with the saying, "A bad day of golf is better than a good day at work", is a moron.
