I am a right handed golfer and on my left hand i get a painful blister, that is on the side of my pointer finger?

You shouldn't have any blisters, especially on a glove hand. There is probably something wrong with your grip.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Starting from the fingertip, do you mean between the second and third knuckle? I have a definite callus there, since I put a lot of my grip pressure right there. At one time there was opportunity for blistering, but hitting tons of balls has diminishing returns in other areas too, so I never got a lot of blisters when I started (before I had golf calluses for life).

Other areas with calluses are inside right thumb pad, left thumb across the inside of the first knuckle, and the pads at the base of my ring fingers (yup, both hands).

your really shouldnt have any blisters because if you have blisters it means that the club is moving in your hands.

I have the same blister location except on my right hand because I'm left handed. It's definitely from my grip (tooo tight) and lack of calluses in the area. I also wasn't wearing a glove for the first 1/2 of my practice session and my hands were real sweaty which I'm sure didn't help.

I have calluses on the outside of the first phallange of my 2 index fingers both left and right, and get occasional blisters, usually on the cushion of the 3rd phallange of my left ring finger (even with a glove). I've no idea what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas anyone?

One of my golf friends told me he simply gave up on gloves. He said they wear out so fast there was no point. Anyone else do this?

And I have lots of blisters because I skip the glove 50%

I use old Taylor Made clubs from eBay and golf shops.

    • I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%! @M2R, I've never heard of "Ask Golf Nut" but I'm dubious of his claims in the video and really, really dubious of what's on his site: "Why AskGolfNut Is the Most Trusted Data-Driven Golf Resource". Hmmmmmm.
    • Day 151 1-11 flow work today. I've been doing all pause work, so Inwanted to get some rhythm going. Recorded.

    • So the question was posed today by some of my friends.  Is a pitch mark the same as a divot?  I thought NO, but they argued if your ball lands in another player's divot (made by club during a swing) this was the same as a pitch mark, i.e. the ball mark made when the ball lands
    • Original definition use to or still is how far offline you hit it. It might be better to think of it as consistency in retaining favorable launch conditions to optimize distance.   That heat map showed a gigantic 0-3% loss in ball speed. That is absurd. The true 100% sweet spot is tiny for all clubs. Good luck telling the difference if the sweet spot is under 3% in a sizable area. Especially considering variation in launch angle, spin, and outdoor weather.
