Wow, pretty easy to crucify him from the couch. Play yourself into contention to win a PGA tour event, and then you can show everyone what a "proper" reaction is. Sheesh.

So the guy makes $648,000 instead of $1,080,000. He'll live.

There is no comparison to woods and him. Woods gets super pissed about making bad swings, not about bad breaks. He forgets about the bad shots and moves on. The guy was still b*tching after 18. He hit a somewhat poor lag putt and paid the price. He then makes a horrid choice on 18 hitting a 9 iron and not even giving himself a good look at birdie.

I am an emotional guy too on the course but I don't do it for a living on TV. I get irritated but then in around 3-5 seconds I am smiling acting like the goofy bastard I am. Assuming he hit a good putt, his first putt put him there.

You just can't play good golf if you are still thinking about the shot before. We all know that.

He even had a worse reaction than Sergio. Remember when he had that putt to win the open. I thought that was truely a bad break and thought he hit a perfect putt that just didn't go in and a great bunker shot to get there. He didn't go blaming the green right there. He waited for the press box to blame luck. Both not professional.

I'd rather see emotion on the course then watching a bunch of robots. It will be boring tv if they all act like preprogrammed droids walking and talking like a they just came out of a simulator.

What Overton NEEDS to do is get himself some pants to wear on Sundays that arent white. The only thing white pants are good for is letting everyone watching know exactly when you crap your pants under the pressure.

I actually like Overton and felt some sympathy for him. He got screwed on 17, I thought that putt was in for sure. I probably would've reacted the same way in those circumstances to be fair. Not to mention he had a great run at it on 18, and he got beat by a guy who shot friggin 59 in the final round on Sunday!!!

It's a lot of frustration after a few runner ups and never getting a tour W.

...IF it was a spike mark, you can't do anything anyway, and he certainly wasn't looking at that spot before...

If there's a spike mark on his line, he can repair it no problem. We, as amateurs, can't. The fact he didn't suggests to me it a) wasn't a spike mark and just made a mistake or b) was a spike mark and he was a bit of a prat not to repair it. Either way, suck it up; all he's done now is embarrass himself.

...Connors was intense on the tennis court and McEnroe was a cry baby, there's a difference.

Sorry. Off thread I know but Connors may have been "intense" but he was also a snide, underhand ***hole. At least with Mac, what you saw was what you got; far more honest.

No, you cant repair spikemarks until after youve played the hole. Where did you ever get the idea that "pros" could and amateurs cant?

That 52 footer he missed by 1 inch on the 18th was the golf gods idea of karma for making such a big deal out of missing the 5 footer. If he would have handled it better, the putt on 18 would have dropped and he would have had a chance to prove himself against a man who just shot 59.

Spike mark in his line? Part of the game.

Sure, it's part of the game, but when it throws your ball off-line on the 17th hole in basically a must make putt, it's pretty unlucky, let's be honest. If I was in the same situation, I'd be equally as frustrated and pissed.

Oh come on. That's ridiculous. It was a 52 footer. Of course he was going to be around the hole, almost all pro's can get it around the hole on 50 footers.

Word-I think you called it. I'm not going to be rooting for that guy-I may even be rooting against him. I imagine he's one of Bill Murray's sons in

Rushmore , transplanted to the golf course 12 years later.

I was kidding, but yeah. I'd say it's only about 1/10 50 footers that roll 1 inch to the right/left of the cup. Sure, most pros can get a 50 footer within 3 feet probably 8-9 times outta 10, but to nearly hole it is much different.

Consistently within 3 feet is skill. Holing that putt would be luck, that's why it was karma for his bad reaction. Maybe if he handled it better he would have came off of 18 absolutely ecstatic, forgetting all about the "bad break" he had at 17.

Good question. Was told a long while back as a junior player and never thought to query it then or now. Having just done so, I'm not sure what I was thinking! Good job it was that way around and not me thinking amateurs could repair them! Thanks.

I finally saw this highlight and while I agree that it was an unlucky break and he had a right to be frustrated, he didn't have to show his frustration to the extent that he did - He looked like a huffing and puffing 13 year old.

Actually, now that I think of it, when watching the ball closely, it didn't look like the putt veer'ed offline enough to cause the miss. Another golfer who cries as putts that miss due to "marks" is Sergio
