Cheers for that. That's insane on the amount of elite forces you've got.

My cousin was CIA. If you remember he was the first American killed in Afghanistan, Mike Spann. He was a Marine Captain. We didn't even know he was in the CIA until after. What I hated was that I was on my way over there when I got the news. They wanted to send me home but I refused. Either way, he did great things.

Rangers and marine recon are not really special forces, they're highly trained infantry. If you're talking about tactical special forces, then there really isn't a difference. They are all equally effective. In reality, very few operators of what we stereotype as "special forces" use weapons. They're mostly mostly special rescue (whom might be armed) sci-ops and intelligence, from my experience in the army.

My dad is SF (not to say which) but they all have their own specialties. Going along with this delta "doesn't exist" but you can easily find their compound on an army base in NC...

The Pentagon has acknowledged Delta’s existence in the last decade; however it is their missions, training, logistics and personnel that are kept extremely classified. So much so, that it is officially known that they are based out of Fort Bragg and this is where their infamous “Kill-house” is located, but other than a few declassified missions, most everything else is quite.

Mike Spann was a Hero in all accounts, and he gave his live in service of this country and so that others might live. I truly feel a great deal of sorrow for his wife and children, I was particularly troubled to hear that his ex-wife and mother to several of his children also passed. I hope that those kids, catch a break someday!

To be accurate, the only teams who are Special Forces are Army 18 series soldiers. Green Beret types. Every other unit is considered Special Operations Forces (SOF) and that does include the Rangers and now the Marines have a corner of SOCOM. MARSOC Marines include some Force Recon elements and they are considered SOF.

I was talking with a mate about which special forces group is the best in the world, (we both thought it was the SAS) then we got all confused with all the different American special forces groups out there.

The best special forces in the world are the New Zealand SAS - based on the British SAS, but harder training and very selective....I am not kidding.

Quick answer to this question: The best Special Forces group out there is the one you don't know about. =)

I am an Army Sergeant and my buddies were talking about how when we go on our morning runs we sometimes run down roads that we aren't supposed to be on. One time my buddy had a few humvees pop out in front of them and a soldier (we're thinking Delta) told them to "turn around now." Haha, that being said though... thats not very well hidden if a group of Signal kids can find them hiding in the sticks.

The New Zealand SAS selection is pretty much the same as the Australian one. Once the kiwis pass selection there training is over in Aus or the UK. Same diff. I reckon our selection is harder, we have desert, mountain, rain forest, every form of terrain.

Now I have worked with the Kiwis. Those guys are crazy. No fear and willing to do whatever it takes.

I have never met any Navy seals, but am a lodge member with a retired SAS member. He says Seals are the best of the best. I cannot argue though i dont know his reasons.

I've many SF friends.., 1 who got shot up in Panama.. have a cousin who is a Seal...another who is a Helo pilot...knew 1 or 2 Recon members...and 1 who was a member of the AF's special OPs.. they are all the best. the unit I was with supported Rangers on exercises. Hollywood tries to glamorize their duties, when all they wanna do is complete the mission and get everyone back alive.
on a side note, I've worked at the VA hospital for 25 yrs,and have met many, many brave men from all wars... had a co-worker who was in the Marines, when they co-operated with the airborne units on Hamburger Hill...got shot up on that mountain. he also said his unit had to call on the SF group to get them outta trouble on one particular mission that went bad...his words" they were some fighting SOBs"... and he should know, they saved the units' hides that day!!!
Thansk to all my Veteran brothers here, for your time. I could write a book from the stories told to me over the past 25 years... from D-Day to Afghanistan. this country should be proud of her Veterans.

    • Feel like you are left side dominant. Keep the back of your glove running through impact. Keeps leading edge down without digging. You will pick them clean with some zip if the grass is nice and generally acceptable results off anything less than ideal. Works with both hingy or dead hand pitches and chips.
    • Day 52 (30 Apr 26) - Had planned a solo round, got invited to be part of trio that included a fmr mini tour pro.  Was fun playing back a set of tees and having to stay in my game plan. Both were very engaging and encouraging in the round.  A good day in working through and making smarter shot choices.
    • Day 576 - 2026-04-30 Put my playlist on and slowed down a little as things were meh. Mostly got to an exaggerated P6 and hit from there.
    • I mean, a golfer is trespassing and damaging property. So, golf rules don’t supersede state laws. 😉 Like, if it isn’t marked and is off golf property. The right thing to do is take an unplayable lie or take stroke and distance.  Also, this is a liability for the course. The homeowner could easily say the course is liable for damage done because they knowingly didn't mark their boundaries which allowed golfers to trespass and damage property.
    • Interestingly enough, if the course (the Committee in Rules terms) doesn't mark the boundaries, there is nothing out of bounds.  I realize that neighboring homeowners would take a dim view of golfers whacking balls from their backyards, but that's what the Definition of Out of Bounds requires. "All areas outside the boundary edge of the course as defined by the Committee."
