I am a consultant and work a lot of times from my office in my condo. If I have a client on the West Coast I usually don't have to start work till 12 noon. So that leaves a lot of time for morning golf. Also, if I am on site at a clients office for a week the industry standard is m-th work with friday being a travel day. Fly the red eye on thursday night, and I am usually home by 9am on friday at the latest. Leaving all friday open for golf and what not.

My vote is the traveling salesman (who should always travel with his clubs)...

If you are lucky to have clients who like golf, you can take them out to play and talk business during and after the round during lunch or dinner in the clubhouse. The best part about taking a client out to play golf is the amount of time for them to get to know you at a personal level. If you are personable, you can really do well (It's easier to sell someone someting when they like you as a person!!).

And, if you have clients who don't play, you can go find a course in the city that you are visiting after your meetings...

Being a teacher is actually pretty darn good for golf. I definitely don't make a lot of $ but sometimes I'm able to sneak in 9 holes after school not to mention having 2 1/2 months for summer, 2 weeks for winter break and a week for spring break. Sprinkle in some teacher planning days which means I'm out of school by lunch time and can get a round in.

Teacher for sure - depending on your school type, but there are some positions out there that give you so much sparetime for golf, with actually good pay (considered all the time off).

I second teacher, I can sleep at night and still make a comfortable living. I play a lot after work and in the summer I split my time between sailing and golf.

Department of Defense contractor. All the high ranking officers play golf, so if you have to schedule a meeting with one of them just to discuss training, the best place to do the meeting is on the course. Plus the hours aren't too bad, early in, early off. So I typically play 3 rounds of 9 a week, and then 3 18's a week on my 3 day weekend every weekend.

Not too bad, and the money isn't horrible as well.

My friend works up at a driving range.
He can get free golf balls and gets a few lessons off of the local pro.

Wages aren´t great but it´s a good summer job to have.

edit:

Oh, you mean a proper job. I think teacher would be a good job too. No work on the weekends so you can still play.

Its also important who you work for. Both the owners of the small company I work for are golfers so as long as I keep up with current projects they have no complaint on my golf (not unusual for them to join me). For the last two months, the only thing that has kept me off the course everyday is laundry & weather. 52 rounds since April 1st.

I am a computer consultant.
I lucked out and started my own business a couple years ago, then worked for an area tech company that got bought out and left me with some of the 'smaller' clients. I charge a premium and have a handful of regular work, so I can golf pretty much when I want and can schedule the non-emergency calls around my tee times. I'm not going to get rich this way as I spend all my money on golf and golf equipment, but for this summer it sure has improved my game. I duck and deer hunt in the fall, so I'll shift my income relief to that and still not get rich but have fun not doing it. :)

Even par through 9 is my best.  I don't even want to think about what was my worst.

I am not sure that too is true, lots of folks like to play with a good golfer even if they are not. I know I really enjoy playing with a scratch player. I think the key to work golf is don't be an A$$.

To be honest I would say anything that allows you to make enough money to afford it (best if you can be a member of club so you can get a fast round in) and to be senior enough to be able to set your own hours. If you are also single and no kids it would help. For me 2 kids, wife, but I do get to play 100+ rounds per year.

I'm also a computer consultant. When I'm busy I can't play much (or do anything much) but there are months at a time when you'd think I was unemployed (based on how much fishing and golfing I do, anyway).
