After reading a number of rave reviews both here and on other blogs and in golf magazines about the Top Flite Gamer V2, I decided it was high time I gave this ball a try. With that in mind, I set off about town trying to find a box, or even a sleeve, to try on an upcoming round of golf. I might as well be trying to find Elvis! Both Austad's stores, Scheel's Sporting Goods, and every golf pro shop in town is completely sold out of Gamer V2s. One counter guy at Austad's told me the factory was even out of them, an explanation I find rather implausible.

Has anyone else had a problem finding Gamer V2s?

Nope. I saw them at 2 different Walmarts over the weekend. I honestly don't think you're missing that much though. I tried them and they were ok, but they weren't very durable (even though they were more durable than the originals), and I don't scuff balls much unless I'm lucky enough to catch cartpath.... I actually still have a sleeve sitting in my golf closet.... check your local Wallyworld.

That seems to be the major complaint I've read about them, especially on this forum. As for Walmart, I've checked them. No dice.

I stop the ball within a few inches of the ball mark on approaches of 140 yards or less and have had no durability issues with the gamers. Im not saying it is a false complaint, but I think it is over stated. But most people here play vokeys or similar wedges, where as I play $12 wedges haha, so that could be the difference.

No problem finding them out here in socal. I saw them recently at WalMart and Roger Dunn's, and today I was at Golfsmith and they had a whole bunch of them. In fact they still had the older packaging with an extra sleeve at the same price as wll as the original Gamer for $15.

I know there is a lot of hype around this ball, and for good reason... It plays really well... However, I think a lot of the hype surrounding the Gamers is due to the fact that it isn't a rock even though Top-Flite makes it.

I think the biggest hype is that they aren't 50.00 a dozen and have some descent consistency around the green.

Walmart in Tampa has the original Gamer, but not the V2.

Edwin Watts & Golfsmith both have the V2.

I am still looking for thr special intro package that included an extra sleeve for the price of a dozen.

I love this ball......it flies off the clubface and wedges make em dance.....no durability issues here.....I am hell on golf balls and this one just takes it.....I played other balls in this category and they seemed to scuff a lot easier.......not sure if it is equipment or swing issues that cause the scuffing for some more than others.....I love when I see the 15 pack for 20.......3 free balls...WOO-HOO!!!

See, I don't have Edwin Watts or Golfsmith or anything around me. I have Wal-Mart, Target, and Dick's. All three were out. I noticed that TGW has the 3 extra balls. I guess I could order from there and get me some extra gloves or tees or something. I hate paying the shipping though because I don't have 100.00 worth of stuff to buy.

Buy them from Amazon.com... If you spend more than $25 you get free shipping.

Still no Gamers to be had anywhere in Lincoln. Guess I'm gonna have to go with Bridgestone E6's instead (sigh).

The E6's don't spin on iron shots at all? I'd say they spin great on iron shots. I've played the E6's side by side with various tour balls and while not exceptional, the E6 plays very well.

I will say though, The Taylormade TP Red is another great ball that I enjoyed playing. Haven't been able to find those anywhere in awhile...

The e6 is a low spin ball, engineered to not spin. Bridgestone themselves will tell you that. If you want a ball to stop on greens from the e line it would be the bridgestone e5

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
