Hey guys, I realise this is a fairly American Forum, but I'm basically a mix of just about every part of the World except North America haha! I'm English by nationality, but I work in Japan & Thailand, and other areas of Asia & oceania, my Mum's side of the family is Uruguayan & my Dad's side is Chinese. Odd, I know, but here I am!

I have a handicap of 4, playing around Asia at various different courses, particularly Burapha Golf Club in Thailand, home of the Thai National Open on the OneAsia Tour.

I'm a great supporter of Asian golf and the Japanese, Asian & OneAsia Tours, but I'm an all-round golf fan too, of all tour's around the whole World.

I've noticed probably 95% of the discussion in the 'Tour' Forum is about the PGA, am I allowed to post about Asian golf, etc, or am I likely to be ignored in there?

You are lucky!! I spent 2 years in Thailand and I absolutely loved it over there. I am hoping to eventually get into some line of work that will take me back there some day! The only golf I played there were on a couple of the military bases, I never got to play on any of the nicer looking courses in or around Bangkok.

Welcome to the board. I have to admit I don't tend to notice the asian tours unless something big happens (suspension for slow play ; Ryo Ishikawa's 58 ; beginning of the asian amateur tournament ), but there are a handful of folks on this board in Asia. And maybe your posts will get me to follow more closely what happens.

Thanks for the welcome guys, and shank-a-roo, Thailand is indeed beautiful. It's my favourite country in ASia by a long shot. Burapha is about 100km from Bangkok, but worth the journey if your ever there again, beautiful course.

Think I might open an 'Asian Golf' Thread for all news & stuff from Asia, Japan & OneAsia and also discusison on Asian players in America & Europe too.

Hi TitleistWI; I travel around Asia but when in Japan it's usually at various companies in Ibaraki Perfecture. :) I've posted an Asian Golf Thread in 'Tour Talk' where I hope I can get updated of Japan & Asia golf posted. :) It's such an underrated tour in Japan.

Rogerw; I play mainly at the Otone Country Club when in Ibaraki, it's a great course, but not as awesome as Shishido Hills which unfortunately I don't get the chance to play more than perhaps 1 or 2 times per year! You should play one of them, certainly completely new challenges to compared to anything in USA. :)

Thank you for the information Kazuhiro, I will definately ask about these places on my next trip later this year.

Thats cool. Ive had an interest in Japanese culture most of my life, have taught myself how to speak Japanese (wont say that Im fluent, but I can get by) and would love to take a trip to Japan someday. Id love to visit Nagoya and visit the Toyota museum, as well as visit the Sapporo region and do some snowmobiling (I do a lot of snowmobiling here in the U.S. and would love to be able to say Ive snowmobiled in Japan) as well as do the usual gaijin tourist thing and visit Tokyo. Taking at least one trip to Japan is definetly on the bucket list.

About 5 years ago I had the opportunity to move to Japan and work as an English teacher and but chose not to because of family obligations. Theres been many times I wish I would have went for it though.

Konichiwa!  I spent six years at Atsugi base outside of Tokyo with the Navy and they have a very enjoyable golf course.  I'm off to Okinawa next month to enjoy some island style golf.  In addition, I've played all over Asia, the South Pacific, Australia and NZ in my travels.  Love the golf in these parts of the world!

    • It's not. 🤣 It's over 90 seconds into a 5-minute video before they say anything about physics, and when they do, they talk about mastering the double pendulum with a definition that includes gravity or something. Here, @GreenhornGolfer and others: https://amzn.to/3IHnf0N. Buy that.
    • Barring a disaster, this will be Scheffler's fourth major and only missing the US Open for a career slam.
    • Have slowly been working on hooding my long irons less. Using a much more neutral grip and a feel of swinging above the waist. This was the 2nd swing today. A clean clip with a 4-iron with what seems like an okay centered pivot and decent balanced finish.
    • Nobody is getting close and Scottie is not letting them. BDC could've had a shot without that awful Thursday. He shot 16 under on the last three days.
