I was in a movie with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. It was "Days of Thunder" and we filmed it back in 89'. She's hot, the movie was not!

Did you play your college golf in Indiana somewhere? I'm in SE Indiana about 1 1/2 hour from Indy.

University of Evansville. Evansville is where Overton is from. I played HS golf for Noblesville 96-99, then college 99-2003.

When I was 10 years old (maybe 11, don't recall) my father was with a group who were marshalling the 15th hole at Crooked Stick in Carmel, IN for the PGA Championship that Daly went on to win.

So I spent my time during the practice round hovering between the 14th green and 15th tee. Got like 65 autographs that day, including Couples, Nicklaus, Norman, Ballesteros..was pretty sweet. Didn't get daly's, but got a high five from him.

I know technology has made most players stupid long now, and Daly probably doesn't wow people as much as he used to..but I can tell you back at that tournament there was nobody is the same universe as him when it came to driving distance. He was hitting wedge into the 14th hole when other players were hitting 4 irons. SICK!

At the PGA Championship in St. Louis (I think...like when I was 14), Hubert Green dropped a golf ball in my coke haha :)

I played played Malibu Beach GC in LA and was playing behind James Worthy, it took me 18 holes to get up the nerve to ask him for his autograph. Earlier that day, I was in the rough looking for my ball and Scott Stapp (the lead singer for CREED) walked by me looking for his ball, and said "whats up?"

back in college at the University of Evansville, I believe it was 2002, I was on the range and our assistant coach was behind me and started talking to the head coach. She said "a band traveling is coming into town for a concert and wanted to know if they could exchange concert tickets for a round of golf. She said they were "Linkin Park" with a confused look on her face. My head immediately sprung up and was like "Whoa...they are popular, you should do it". So the next day Linkin Park is out on the golf course, and after the round I got a chance to get a picture with 4 of the band members. Was pretty sweet.

Back in the 80's I use to play raquetball a lot and was waiting for my brother in law to show up for a game. Some guy tapped on the door and asked if I wanted to play a couple of games to warm up. I said sure. We played three games and I scored 2 points. It was Andy Roberts.

Back in high school, played with a buddy of mine on a random weekday, maybe over spring break, and caught up to a group on the 5th tee. We walked over to the bench to sit and watch them hit their shots and it took me till the 2nd guy to realize it, so I leaned over to my buddy and whispered in his ear, "Dude, I think thats J.T. Snow" then I looked again, "Dude, thats Rich Aurilia", again, "Dude, thats the pitching coach". This was when the Giants were pretty damn good, pretty sweet to see em out there. Not really a claim to fame, but thats the closest I've been to someone famous in a golf setting. I did see Bill Murray once also right before he teed off. Now thats someone I'd like to play a round with.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
