As a student, I find that Titleist Pro V1s (and similar quality balls) are out of my price range at $40+ per box. Can anyone recommend a few decent quality balls in the $15-30 range? I like softer balls that I can spin. I have found that I dislike the feeling of harder balls. Brand is wholly unimportant to me. Off-brands are perfectly acceptable.

I know the best way is to get fit, but that would require time that I just don't have right now.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Yeah, used AAAA or better grade premium balls are cheaper and very good on performance. i play used Pro V1x as well, they're pretty good vs brand new.

I play TM Reds all summer, but as things soften up and it gets colder I usually switch to a 2-3 piece ball. Went to a course today that was already starting to soften up last week and got some rain earlier this week. Decided to use a TM Burner TP and remembered why I like this ball as conditions change. Fine off the driver, short irons under a foot from the pitch marks, and putts nice. Since it does spin less than the Reds, my chips were long all day but that is an easy adjustment. WalMarts has 2dz for $40 deals and if you go used lostgolfballs are $9 for AAAAA. Many good balls in the price range you are looking at mostly a personal preference. It is always nice to find a lost ball that you have wanted to try. Doing this has saved me money on a dozen when I didn't like the ball.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I've always been a little skeptical of playing with recycled balls, but it appears that AAAA and AAAAA grade balls play as good as new?

I've played with AAA balls, and except for a few scratches, they perform just as good as any other ball. The damage was no more than what you could give it with a good wedge shot or two. AAAA and AAAAA are in my opinion almost like new. It depends of course on where you buy them.

I just ordered some Top Flight Gamer v2 balls based on the recommendations from this site and amazon. They seem like the best cheap 3piece ball on the market. Will let you know once they come and I try them out

Top Flight Gamers, Bridgestone E series, Titleist NXT Tour, and Nike One Tour/TourD are all excellent performance balls at the $20-30 price range. Personally, I think it is tough to beat the value you get from the Nike One Tour series since they dropped their price to $29.99. The Nike One Tour is the equivalent of the ProV1 (four piece, urethene cover) and the Nike One Tour D is the equivalent of the ProV1x (three piece, urethene cover).

I have used the Noodle LTD Tour sold at Sport Authority for $19 - $21 and on sale for $10 - $12 a dozen. Costco also sells Nike and Titleist balls. I have also played with the MC Lady ball for around $10 - $15 a dozen. Long off the tee and you have to play for more run on chip shots.

There are plenty of good balls in the $15-$30 price range. If you don't mind used/recycled then either go with lostgolfballs.com or golfballnut.com. You can get the premium balls cheap (for instance, the Pentas are $21 at golfballnut I believe in mint condition). If you are looking at new balls there are a lot of good choices. There is the Nike ONE balls (Tour, Tour D, Vapor), Top-Flite (D2 feel, Gamer V2), Bridgestone e series, Callaway HX Bite, Srixon Trispeed, Noodles, etc. By the way, if you find you like these but still don't mind recycled balls, you can get these models pretty cheap recycled as well.
