it would be like +20 differential atleast. That was an incredibly hard course. They look easy on tv but it would at over 20 strokes to your round if you played there

Sorry, but if the course rating were 80 with a maximum allowable slope of 155, a 61 still "only" gives a differential of -13.8.

In David's bag....

Driver: Titleist 910 D-3;  9.5* Diamana Kai'li
3-Wood: Titleist 910F;  15* Diamana Kai'li
Hybrids: Titleist 910H 19* and 21* Diamana Kai'li
Irons: Titleist 695cb 5-Pw

Wedges: Scratch 51-11 TNC grind, Vokey SM-5's;  56-14 F grind and 60-11 K grind
Putter: Scotty Cameron Kombi S
Ball: ProV1

No it wouldn't be anywhere near +20. Here's Phil's: http://www.golfdigest.com/golf-tours-news/blogs/local-knowledge/2013/06/yes-some-tour-pros-have-a-handicap-phils-is-52.html Tiger's would be probably a little bit better. Still well shy of even +10.

In my bag:

Driver: Titleist TSi3 | 15º 3-Wood: Ping G410 | 17º 2-Hybrid: Ping G410 | 19º 3-Iron: TaylorMade GAPR Lo |4-PW Irons: Nike VR Pro Combo | 54º SW, 60º LW: Titleist Vokey SM8 | Putter: Odyssey Toulon Las Vegas H7

(And I meant +20 on that round not hdcp). Plus Phil must be terrible if he is only 5 strokes better than a scratch golfer. (Also tiger is much better). If that is true though that gives me hope if I am only 10 strokes worse than Phil mickleson!! Also he should have a really good hdcp because he can shoot so low and high. It dosnt count the highs but it will count his 59 1/2

Nick, do you read threads or just start posting in them? This link is from early on page 1: http://thesandtrap.com/b/the_numbers_game/calculating_the_handicap_indeces_of_the_pros .

That's interesting. He has so many rounds very close to each other. And no I don't read them unless they are a page long.
Since there's talk about how a pro may score on one of our courses, I thought I'd share a photo of a plaque that hangs at my course's 19th hole. As you can see, Ben Hogan was once the course record holder with a 64 in 1951. I'm not sure if ratings have changed over the years, but current course information from the tips are: 6,256 yds; par 71; 70.4 rating; 120 slope.
I think tommy gainey holds my course record with 60

The only pro I could find when doing a geographical GHIN search was Bubba Watson in FL ... he was a +7.7 last time I checked

I did the math for a few pros a couple of months ago.  Rory, I think, and somebody around 50th and somebody around 100th on the money list, and their caps were like +8, +6 and +6.  Not too shabby.

But I think the big difference between pros and the rest of us is in our anti-caps.  The bottom 10 of our last 20, not the top 10.  My handicap would probably go up by 5 or more strokes, whereas the pros would probably go up by one or two.

He's only got 8 scores posted.....going back to 1992, so I'd call that one invalid. :-)

    • I honestly believe if they play longer tees by 300-400 yards, closer to or over 7,000 yards, more rough, tougher greens, women's golf will become much more gripping.  BTW, if it weren't for Scottie killing it right now, men's golf isn't exactly compelling.
    • Day 542, April 26, 2024 A lesson no-show, no-called (he had the wrong time even though the last text was confirming the time… 😛), so I used 45 minutes or so of that time to get some good work in.
    • Yeah, that. It stands out… because it's so rare. And interest in Caitlin Clark will likely result in a very small bump to the WNBA or something… and then it will go back down to very low viewership numbers. Like it's always had. A small portion, yep. It doesn't help that she lost, either. Girls often don't even want to watch women playing sports. My daughter golfs… I watch more LPGA Tour golf than she does, and it's not even close. I watch more LPGA Tour golf than PGA Tour golf, even. She watches very little of either. It's just the way it is. Yes, it's a bit of a vicious cycle, but… how do you break it? If you invest a ton of money into broadcasting an LPGA Tour event, the same coverage you'd spend on a men's event… you'll lose a ton of money. It'd take decades to build up the interest. Even with interest in the PGA Tour declining.
    • Oh yea, now I remember reading about you on TMZ!
