Without being installed how long do you think a grip will be good for? Of course they'd be kept in a cool and dry place. Just wondering since I wanted to stock up on some. I just love deals and like to stock up when there is one. $1.70/grip for multi-compounds can't really be beat.

Golfsmith has them on sale and free shipping. They aren't the Golf Pride NDMC but the Goodyear MC grips. They've gotten good reviews and I trust Goodyear for my car tires so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

If you wash them pretty regularly (I do mine every month to six weeks) they'll last longer. Your overall wear rate depends on how often you play and the material. Washing them helps though, you've got all kinds of chemicals on your hands (from your skin, from the course) and, most likely, sweat. This stuff isn't good for the long-term health of the grip.

Don't think you read my post. It's how long

uninstalled grips will last and not installed grips.

here Down under where off season is because its too hot, the grips go hard from sunscreen.

my driver grip only lasts about 8-10 months, - must be the huge amounts of torque i place on the grip!! haha

always give way to the Greenskeeper!!

in my bag:
whatever clubs i find left behind on the course... But the Ping Anser will never be beaten!!

Okay I guess I need to have the titled changed because I am not wondering about installed grips. This thread is for

UNINSTALLED GRIPS .

I would think at least a few years as long as you kept them out of direct sunlight and didn't expose them to extreme weather conditions.

Years ago, I lived in an area where it was hard to get golf repair items. I bought a half-dozen cordlines for my driver and woods. I regripped with three, planning on the other three being replacements. I hit a dry spell where I only played about 10 times a year. So, four years after the purchase, the remaining cordlines were as good as new. I just kept them in my "golf drawer" inside the house.

I guess another way to look at it is this: When was the last time you checked the manufacture date when you purchased new grips? Do grips have a "Born on Date?" ;)

I have grips purchased 1.5+ years ago that are fine. Kept them inside in a plastic bag. Can't tell the difference between them and new in the store grips so I would say they will last for a good chunk of time.

As long as you keep them dry (probably the most important part) and away from temperature swings, I bet they'll last for at least a few years. If not many more. At that price you might as well go for it and try.

I bought 25 Golf Pride DD2 in mid 2008. I still have about 15 grips now and they are as good as new. I don't see any changes in quality whatsoever.

From a while ago, some guys said DD2 is not as durable as Tour Velvet. I have to disagree. I have used DD2 for 2 years now on my Woods and Driver and they are still pretty good.

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
