Below is the best golf tip you will ever get.

That image should be viewed by all beginning golfers. I think we all have the wrong idea when we start.

A tip I'd like to add, from that link, for those who hit fat or can't seem to get their swing's low point farther left:
( Remember to keep the elbows as close together as it is physically possible.)

I ran into a ton of problems not being able to get the bottom of my swing where I wanted it to do. Once I videoed myself I saw that I had terrible issues with the inside of my right elbow seperating from my body up to 4 or 5 at impact. I think it was causing my right arm to act as a lever, keeping the swing from bottoming out close to the left shoulder like it should.

"Golf is an entire game built around making something that is naturally easy - putting a ball into a hole - as difficult as possible." - Scott Adams

Your impact position might look okay on video/photos, hands ahead of ball, divots ahead of the ball, but there still can be fundamental flaws with your swing.

Practice on real grass as much as possible. Divots or lack of one, over the course of a practice session tell you alot. Especially beginners. Many people don't look at the ball mark, the divot when practicing, just the ball flight. The divot and ball mark are revealing.

You can get some decent practice in away from the range or course, at home, without hitting balls, just by taking practice swings, fast and slow, while watching TV, but be sure to hit balls eventually and not rely on this.

Don't drink tequila while playing. It induces rage and when you take a horrible shot you'll stress yourself to the tee...literally

    • Yes.  Did he not hit the range before the round? When my first few pre-round drives aren't what I expect, the first thing I check is my driver settings, in case they changed.  I am on my second adjustable driver and I am still not trusting that golf gremlins don't change it between rounds. The second thing I check is my alignment and setup, and that is far more often the culprit than my settings. In any case, there are some simple things that I imagine should be on a professional player's pre-round checklist that I am surprised when they aren't.  One of those is the settings for any adjustable clubs.
    • It was also set at B1 at a previous event, and… so there's dubiousness around whether he's telling the truth (again).
