New 910 Drivers

Anyone out there hit em yet? Any feedback? Playability, feel, performance, looks, sound? Is the surefit hosel legitimate? Is it worth buying, if im currently hitting the 907d2 very well? What can I expect from the D2 vs. D3? And will the difference be easily discernible? Any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks.

the only people Ive seen get to use them are college players and pros. They had some at the range the other day for some college players to get fitted on. They looked like they are going to be popular drivers. They will be just as popular as the 909's were.

the college guys were hitting them pretty good. I bet the titleist fitter would of let me hit one a few times if I had asked but I didnt really care to.

Tried the 910 this morning we have the demo ones at our club

D3 10.5 degree regular 60gram shaft

all i can say is order one now I have at address it says hit me hard

great club off out this afternoon for a proper play will update

ordered it what a great feel from the first hit

the other members of the 4 ball have ordered one too it was that good

Gotta love the short product-life-cycle of the golf industry. I'll pick up a 909D3 come november for dirt cheap, and a 910 the next year :)

With the way prices fall, I don't see why anyone would buy an OFR club rather than last years top model and opt for a great custom shaft.

Just remember that Titleist products don't generally drop in value quite as fast. A lot of websites still sell the 907 for $150-$200 and the 909 still goes for $300. Comparably, two year old Taylor Mades can often be had for as little as $100.

Why do you make such a statement? According to Titleist, they've made a number of significant changes (shown below). The 910 may look similar to the 909, but it seems there are a number of significant evolutionary changes:

FACE INSERT: New variable thickness face insert providing for a substantially larger maximum ball speed area and an improved launch/spin face map gradient that yields increased distance potential. Compared to Titleist’s previous-generation 909 drivers, the 910D2 has a 15% larger maximum ball speed area. The 909D3 realizes a 10% larger maximum ball speed area. THIN CROWN: The 910 features a chemically milled, 17% thinner crown, allowing more discretionary mass to be relocated low and deep where it contributes to the club’s outstanding stability. and with all those improvements, what exactly will it help me to achieve? to me, the difference in performance does not outweigh the cost.

Maybe someday people will realize a top end shaft fitted for your swing does far more for performance than the most recent $300 driver.

Maybe not for "new" stuff that is still in supply, but the value of used clubs still drops sharply. I picked up a like-new 909 D2 this week for $85.

exactly. im a firm believer in getting fitted for your shaft. the driver head imo doesn't really matter. These days, most manufacturers are fairly on par with their technology, quality, and performance. The difference in shaft choice however makes a huge different in accuracy and distance.

instead of replacing your driver with the most recent $300 driver every time TM, Titleist, Callaway, etc releases a new driver, get a single driver and get fitted for the shaft and be done with it.

I tend to agree with you here, but I also wonder if an additional and consistent 5 - 10 yard might be found with a more modern head than what's currently in my bag.

Yeah true. I tend towards new drivers though, even though I have bought almost all of my clubs used. There is something about the driver that makes me not trust used ones.

That's not the point. You said the 910 is nothing but a 909 with an adjustable shaft, which isn't correct. Nobody cares whether you feel these changes are worth it or not, but the fact is that Titleist did quite a bit of reengineering on the 909.

not quite dude....

you can pick up a used 909 D3 w an aftermarket shaft, such as a white board, Matrix (real) or similar from $180-220 and the original R9 420cc head, w a TP shaft, still range from $190-230....maybe a burner is under $200, but certainly not an R9

yes it can

i EASILY picked up 10-15yds w my new R9 & PL Red combo, over my 905T PL Red Axis combo now is it the tech or the combo that suits me better?.........maybe both? but a 10-15 yd gain is pretty significant

I was just going off what was on Golfsmith's website. The 909 goes was released two years ago. On Golfsmith if goes for $300. The Taylor Made Burner '09, which was also released in a couple months later (909 came out in fall of '08, Burner came out in spring of '09) is only $150. The Cleveland Launcher, which also came out in '09, goes for $150. The Callaway Ft-9, which came out in '09, is $179. I could go on, but my point is that all of these clubs came out after the 909 but cost much less than the 909, by Golfsmith pricing at least.
