After playing some of my worst rounds of the season in the past 4 or 5 outings and seeing rounds stretch to close to 5 hours due to the normal fall wind, leaves, and especially long rough, I actually put myself on early break this year. As much as I enjoy playing, it is quite refreshing to have 6 hours back on my weekends now that the days are getting short.

I might play a spare round here or there before winter if friends are going out or we get a very warm spell but otherwise my 2010 season is over. Surprisingly, I've been very content with that thus far.

I kind of do. I look forward to the cooler weather because down here it can get super hot. Plus, there's not too many days during the winter months where I actually can't play golf. It's just some days I feel are too cold for it to be worth it (below 50º) haha I'm sure i'll hear many a response towards my cold-tolerance from the northerners...

Not unusual. It's just what you're used to. The first few colder days in autumn always feel like the end of the world to me - especially if a North wind is blowing. The same -2 Celcius day in January feels like T-shirt weather.

I was looking forward to it a week or so ago after a not so good year, and having a few aches and pains. But after a swing change and a great session on the range, and a fair round at Atlantic Country Club in Plymouth, MA I wish I could continue to play. I changed a few things in my swing, and am just playing so much better, that I want the season to continue. I live in Massachusetts and play as long as possible.....no snow and 40* or better.

Sure didn't take too long for the jerks in the south to chime in about how they never have a winter...

Have a great sandy/green Christmas you fools!

I hate the winter, it's when I seem to develop new aches and pains that take until July to work out.

Ha ha. I shot an 88 on Friday and an 88 today and thought this might be enough to pull my HDCP under 20 for the winter, but the local district has said winter has already arrived, so these score won't count. Well, it was a great day.

I do! I find it a big help to take a winter break. Don't get me wrong, I really, really enjoy my golf, but I find taking a break helps me in a couple different ways. It gives me time to reflect on the year, think about what I did good and were I can improve. Kind of like solving a problem, if you step away from it, the solution will come to you, I find that with taking a break. Stepping away from it also makes me miss it, so in the spring I am excited to get back out and practice and start playing.
