What's up everyone!

Planning a bachelor party trip to Palm Springs in May 2011, trying to find some good suggestions on places to stay/play, how to find good packages, any good websites for information, so forth.

Would love to see what others have done in the past or suggestions!
thanks,
JB

Are you going to be in the city of Palm Springs, or the general Palm Springs area [la quinta, cathedral city, indo, etc]?

Go to: Reddotgolf.com

Buy the book [~$50], and it has coupons for 2-for-1 tee times at a handful of different courses out there. You can clean up quite nicely with the discount book. PGA West Nicklaus & Norman [both GREAT!], Silver Rock is a lot of fun, Desert Falls, Westin Mission Hills, La Quinta Resort, Trilogy is another good one, Rancho las Palmas is supposed to be good, too. I've played them all except for Rancho Las Palmas. If I were picking I'd do both PGA West options listed, probably Silver Rock, and then it's a toss up for the rest [mainly because I don't remember the differences].

You can't go wrong with PGA West and @ 2-for-1 you gotta do it. As far as places to stay, I've stayed in both La Quinta and Palm Springs. Palm Springs has more going on, but I don't think it's a big party town. There are several good restaurants in the city of Palm Springs, several bars [if that's what you want] and enough to keep you occupied when you're not on the course. La Quinta is even quieter so that's probably not what you want for a bachelor party.

Never been out there to golf so not sure exactly what location we'll be staying in. Just trying to figure out the places to stay as well as golf without having to do too much driving around. Would like to be near by to some bars after the rounds, and true, don't think palm springs is as big a party town as it once was back in the day.

I'll have to check that website out, thanks!

I usually stay in Rancho Mirage at one of the two Westin places. I didn't know about reddotgolf (thanks for the link above), but used golfnow for some tee times.

If you like sushi, try Fuu Rin Sushi Bar in RM.

Stay at Marriott-Desert Springs, the hotel and pool is "girlz gone wild". They have a club, several restaurants too. Just check it out online, you'll see what I mean. You won't be disappointed!

And hey... Desert Springs has 2 excellent golf courses too. Desert Willow is across the street as well, 2 of the best courses out there as well.

Have fun!!

i live in la quinta so you should stay at the hyyat grand champions they have a beautiful course called indian wells golf resort they used to play it during the lg skins game! it has a night club at the next hotel over called the esmeralda . the club is called STIR all within walking distance or they will give you a ride over in a golf cart! 36 holes of golf ,beuatiful women, bars up the street and excellent service!!

I like the idea of that one uscfan, thanks! So is there a lot of bars and other places to stay within walking distance in la quinta? We would like to be in a location where we can play golf during the day then be able to hit a couple of bars at night, without having to do much driving.
Also, on the cheap side, but right now not sure what everyone's budget is. Indian Wells seems pricey, is there anywhere else around to stay and/or play that is cheaper just in case anyone wants to be cheap, or is that more in palm springs?
Your help is appreciated.

I Just got got back from palm springs for a week of golf, the marriot is a good call. However for a bachelor party I think I would be considering Vegas, golf is good but the nightlife is going to be better. And I think you will find more bargains in Vegas right now. But if golf is your main focus....palm springs is Mecca.

When a company makes a club in the USA I will proudly display their brand here. All of mine were made in china by somebody making $2 a day. Shame on you Mr club manufacture.

yes, stay at the Marriot and play their course.   It's not spectacular but good if you're playing two times in a weekend.

Have you checked Indian Wells?  It's great course!

Stacked Discounts and Red Dot deals usually don't go over. It matters on who rings you up, but generally its the red dot book at regular price, or the discount. I have gotten 18 holes w/ cart for 2 people for 35 bucks before.. so it can't hurt to try.

Red Dot is a great great great tool for CA golfers. Your best bet is to use it on some high quality vegas courses in the summer. Twilight is about 11-1130 because it is literally hot as hell. haha. Drink water and stay cool and you get some great courses for dirt cheap.

$50 for the book... use a 2-for-1 ten times over the year on courses that usually would run about $50 a person... you're looking at $500 savings right there.

My Dad and I played PGA west, Indian Wells, Classic Club and Then El Niguel (My Uncles Club in Laguna Niguel) on a trip last summer. I can not wait to play Classic Club again. PGA west was okay, Indian wells seemed very "resort" course. El Niguel can't be compared. Private and near Laguna Beach.

For value, stay in Palm Desert at the Marriott for sure...there are actually two marriotts.  Stay at the one with the Faldo Course.  It's a good course and you can eat and drink at the restaurant on site there.  The pool(s) are awesome and depending on when you're there can be hoppin.  A lot of the rooms/suites on the ground floor are on the golf course and on two different occassions myself and the little lady have gone out and hit some night time approach shots and had some drinks on one of the greens.  As far as other courses to play, PGA West is must!  It's a Pete Dye course that used to host the Q school but was too hard so they quit it a couple years back.  Indian Wells and The Classic Club are two others that you must play.  The Classic Club held the Bob Hope until this year.  Very affordable too.  As far as bars and food, there are so many choices out there that you won't be lacking.  The area is a bit spread out though so you may want to grab a cab or bus for the nights out.
