My instructor is a big fan of Mangum's work (I think he's in the process of getting certified), and we started some of the stuff Mangum teaches today. I like it so far.

I tend to gravitate more towards the technical aspects of golf instruction, so I think I'll try Aimpoint too, sometime in the future. All of it seems solid from what I've learned so far.

Isn't Magnum the guy who bashes AimPoint all the time? Seems eerily similar to the AimPoint methods.  Maybe he is a convert now. Nice graphic though.


I've attended an Aimpoint class and everything he's talking about here is what Aimpoint taught me.

Aimpoint > Magnum Spider By a wide margin. I learned Magnum's spider first and thought it was awesome but I was still "guessing" quite a bit. No guesses in Aimpoint, it's all about hitting your start line and controlling your distances. If you can do that reasonable well, Aimpoint is the BOMB! If you can't hit your lines and control your speed then there's really no point in reading the green in the first place! :-P

      Day 4, 1/2/26.  Played 18 today;  didn't get a chance to warm up (had I known the range was closed, I'd have hit balls at home first).  Played okay, 92 with three balls in the water.  It was raining for more than half the round and I didn't quite appreciate before today just how much I benefit from roll on both drives and approach shots.  I did not adapt well to this change until about hole 15, which is something I have to figure out.

      Day 143 1-2 Arch wrist in downswing. Having a SLIGHT cup in the lead wrist at the top now. Only paused swings with some rehearsals before swinging at ball.  Used foam ball.

      Day 459 - 2026-01-02 Had two guys on GEARS Hybrid, so I hopped on afterward (I'm going to do this a lot more often now). So… I've signed myself up for another month of backswing work in two ways: A little more extension of the trail elbow (got into the upper 90s) Less pelvis turn (low 50s).

      Day 31 (2 Jan 26) - Usual Friday men’s group shootout - good day of shot making  as most shots were right on line to the target point.  Putter and green reads were solid with some great par saves and a really tricky birdie.
