Just as an option, the Callaway Diablo Edge is on sale at Callaway Preowned.

They are 30% off till midnight tonight. Part of the deals of days promotion. Every 2 days there is a new deal.

"Like new" condition is brand new on that site. Got all my clubs there this time last year. Awesome deals.

Looks like $88 will get you a Callaway Edge 3W (till midnight)...

+ 1 on the Callaway Diablo Edge 3w.

I really like the club, until the very end of the season I used it in place of my driver. It's very forgiving, and in many cases I was hitting it just as long as my playing partners were hitting their drivers (though none are going to win a long drive competition).

The XCG-3 is pretty darn forgiving, as the head is huge. Unlike some others, I don't know why the size is an issue. Most people shouldn't be hitting 3W out of the rough and don't need to work it. Some people struggle off the deck with the smaller headed CB series.

Unless you hit 3W alot off the tee, the TEE 4W works well for dual purpose. Ball flight is pretty high though.

Hey, i bought the Cleveland Launcher DST 3 wood and I love it. Its super light which has given me more swing speed which translates in more yardage and its also on sale for $149.99 as I bought the 2010 model....Highly recommended!!!!

I have a Cobra S9-1 in my bag right now that I love. I also have a Tour Edge XCG that was given to me. It has a stiff shaft, so I'm thinking of getting it re-shafted and giving it a whirl.

I have the XCG-3 strong 3 wood (used mainly off the tee) and I find it just as forgiving as any 3 wood I have ever owned. I can also hit it off the deck with no problem...great club and I highly recommend it for the OP...

I just won a slightly used XCG-3+ wood for a $100 Regular flex. Can't wait to try it. Thanks for your recommendation.

Hi, my absolute "go-to-club" is a 15degree 2006 RAM FX9 3 Wood with Grafalloy Prolite Elite shaft. Does anybody know this shaft as I am looking to replace it in 2011 with a Titleist 910F in 13,5 or 15degrees

    • I know one recent college grad who's trying the same thing.  This guy was a Division III All-American, went on to play one year at Division I LSU, and is not working hard.  He won the Gulf States Open, a pro event, and made it to the second stage of the Korn Ferry Tour School late in the fall.  And didn't make the cut to get to the final stage.  I won't talk about swing or play stuff, but I believe there are a couple of things that are essential.  Obviously, talent, and drive, or work ethic.   I can't tell you how to do it, but you HAVE to get through it.  Golf is going to be your life, and it takes lots of work. Two more things that are really critical.  You'll need the facility to be able to practice.  My young friend stayed in Baton Rouge, as a past player on the team he can still use the LSU practice facilities.  And money.  Its unlikely you'll be able to work a full-time job and practice the way you will need to.  You'll probably need backing, from a parent, from a consortium of friends or club members., something to support you. Good luck, its not an easy path, but anything is possible.  Another young man from our area, Mike Brennan, just won for the first time on the "big" PGA Tour.
    • No one in the world is as smart as Phil thinks he is.
    • Get more comfortable with being uncomfortable. If you don’t like practicing then give up now. You don’t have the passion to become a pro. Unless that mentality changes you won’t do well under stressful situations.    Call the PGA Tour and ask. They probably have resources available.

    • Thanks man, sometimes it’s hard to improve bc when I’m not feeling comfortable I don’t like practicing bc I get frustrated. Any advice?
