Not sure if there's a section for this or not, might be a good one to dedicate just to the subject.  Do many of you guys out there play fantasy golf with your buddies?  This is the first year I've done it and I'm having a blast, in the least it keeps the workdays on Thursday and Friday tolerable until the weekend.  We have 8 teams with 11 players we drafted in the beginning of the year, start 6 each week giving points for:  Cut made, T25, T10, T3, and win.

I picked up David Toms off FA a little less than a month ago, gotten some great value out of him I guess you could say, now looking to trade him while he's hot if the right offer comes along.  I have a guy offering me Jonathan Byrd and JJ Henry for Toms, I would have to then drop someone else from my team to keep me at the legal timit.  Here's my roster

Cink

Furyk

Hoffman

Na

Dufner

Goosen

Marino

F. Molinari

Ryan Moore

B. Watson

Toms

Majors are worth double points, I think I've got a good number of guys that can play well in the majors, I'm just wondering whether its worth it to get Byrd in hopes he'll turn his season around and Toms will start to faulter after this high point in the season.  JJ Henry is a machine when it comes to making cuts, would be nice to have that security, thats why I figure its a crapshoot if I just drop Hoffman, any thoughts?

There is a TST league on yahoo.com. We get to pick 8 players every week.

I also participate in a Fantasy Golf with 22 guys at my country club. We go off of money earnings for the year. You can pick 5 guys, and only money won on the PGA Tour counts. Some of the guys took Kaymer or Westwood in the first round are kicking themselves now. Its $250 to play for the whole season, and usually there are a bunch of side bets.

And this year's winner is.....srjgolfer!!!! Congrats Steven.

Thanks for another great year everybody; I think we had more guys stick with it throughout the entire season than in any of the previous years. And, as usual, the Santrappers did very well over all.

Look forward to 2012's. I will set it up again in December.

    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
    • Day 580 - 2026-05-04 Played eight holes. Sometimes golf kicks you in the nuts. 😉
