am i the only one who does this?

Whenever I play a casual round at a course I know, I don't even pick up a scorecard. I just wait until the end, recall my round and putt down my score and stats. Recently, I heard that lots of pros do this as well. (not saying that means its right).

For me, it just helps me stay "in the moment" and also improves the pace of play. Am I the only one who does this?

If it's a course I play regularly, and there's no gambling going on, I don't grab a scorecard. I always have the score in my head (even if I try not to). So I guess I'm different from you in that I know exactly what my round total is (and score relative to par) the whole time I'm playing.

Just an aside. Pro's keep each others card. Sad to say, but a few pros have lost tournaments because they signed off on a higher score than they actually shot. One poor guy qualified for the million dollar life of a PGA pro at Q-school a few years back, but signed off on the wrong score and was cut. That's the rules and he never made it back. They may block the score out of their minds so it doesn't affect the shot making, but they still have to do the accounting.

Me, I have too many adventures on the course to be able to do what you do.

i meant that pros do this is casual rounds not tourney rounds. obviously, both the pros and their caddies keep scores

This is something I can do (for instance, I can go through all of my shots from a round for another day or so) but I always like to grab a scorecard. Never know when you're going make that hole in one! I'm gonna frame that card! haha. Sometimes it's actually annoying how much i remember from a round. I still remember certain shots from over the summer, especially from tournaments.

yea, i can recall a round until i play the next one. it's like it records over the last one or something. and it helps if i go hole by hole, start at #1 and thru to #18. i.e. if i want to remember #8, it helps me to start at #1, don't know why. my buddy is ridiculous at golf memory. he can recall specific shots on courses that we played years ago, it's uncanny.

If it's a course I don't know that well, a card is useful for the map / course outline. I remember most shots from last season (hoping to forget a few). That just tells me I need to play more rounds.
