Well @iacas, that left knee torquing thing is still not working at all.

Ahhh, darn. That stinks. Well, you gave it a fair shot.

BTW, that 14th hole looks dumb. I hate artificial "layup" holes where you hit something as short as a 5- or 6-iron off the tee.

Also BTW, #ParThreesAreHard.

In all seriousness, this downswing thought for me is really working well for the 2 days I've been using it. Haven't let it go 100% yet, but the quicker I torque it the farther and straighter it goes.

I'll get some video this weekend to see what I'm actually doing.

Probably nothing different. ;-) Isn't that the way it goes?!?! :-)

As far as the round goes. Kept everything in front of me. All my missed greens were just off the fringe. Except for the 18th hole. I tried to hit a smooth 5i up hill about 187 yds and I executed it well until it came up 25 yds short. Umm I didn't think I smoothed it that much...look down, it was my 7i...duh. The ball was above my feet so I didn't notice it. The only other time I've done that was in 1997. It was a 6i instead of a 9i. Ball was above my feet there as well.

Aim for slopes where the ball is below your feet.

Duh. Can't make that mistake once every 10 or 20 years.

You and every other person that has played that hole say they hate it. The only hole George Cobb had a brain fart on. I think he just ran out of room. The 7% slope on that entire green doesn't help.

Yes, particularly on that back nine. Can't miss right on either one and both have two tiers on the greens.

Yeah, I'll start game planning for that next time out. :-D

Adding latest chipping and pitching videos.

My execution of these shots are trending upward since working with @iacas.

I now have confidence that a have a chance to get up and down then I had previously.

Also my touch has improved greatly. :-D

I need to make the shaft more vertical at address with the pitch.

Yes, and pivot just a little more.

On the downswing/follow through.

Shot 4 under 68 on Saturday. My third win in a row on the Elite Sports Amateur Golf Tour Senior Flight. 7 birdies and 3 bogeys.

My lowest round ever in these events since I’ve been playing in for 9 years or so.

Some highlights and observations from the round.

I read the pre-tournament section of LSW the night before. When I arrived I practiced 10 and 30 footers and did the 4-8-12 drill. My speed was good all day.

I normally don’t hit my full wedges close but I did that day. 4ft, 5ft, 8ft, 12ft, 18ft.

The rough was wet and thick. Short game shots around the greens were just a blast out.

My long clubs from the fairway still needs work.

After my fifth birdie in eight holes the other guys said they were going to stop saying nice birdie…lol.

I don’t like to think about score before a round, but since they had us playing the white tees (5700yds) I had a feeling it was going to be a good day.

Posting an updated video of 7 iron face on and dtl.

Continue to work on the getting more open drill.

Have actually made some pretty good drill swings at slower speeds.

Full swings slight improvement. Long way to go however.

Someday soon it will stick.

I have also been trying to turn my hips sooner to start my downswing. Sequence is better.

Left hip is coming off the wall slightly.

Looking good (better). Keep at it. As I think you know, this isn't the kind of thing where you get worse before you get better, or anything like that. You can just keep kind of adding this piece in more and more and more (until you get to the point where it's in enough).

One note: don't necessarily worry about keeping your arms too glued to your torso. They can come off a bit, as you know, or else you'll really start dragging them too far left.

Thanks @iacas.

That's funny, I actually worked on that with the last few balls. Being it was 95 deg out, I was spent at that point.

@coachjimsc G'day...I would like to ask what kind of camera are you using for your videos and do you film in slow motion or play back in slow motion and save?  Currently I have a Canon A1100IS, which is OK, but only 30 fps and 12.1 mega pixels.  I admire your work ethic. Thanks.

Updating swing videos for 2017. Posting for reference point.

I have reviewed all my Evolvr video responses from last year. I have been working on the same stuff from last year for about a month or so mostly indoors.

GW trying to keep the left hip against the wall. I am not going at these very hard.

Eh. Could be better.

Hips and shoulders still not open enough. More work to be done there.

Comparing my Evolvr submitted video from Dec 2015 (left) to yesterday (right). I took these to see how much improvement I have made on my priority piece…getting the hips and shoulders more open at address.

58ab4e5661ff8_8iaddress.thumb.JPG.a399bfa862e8ff2c2d506fdc12d95083.JPG

P6.thumb.JPG.264e81ce1811a35c3a6bf59119ff1875.JPG

  •     With the shaft horizontal to the ground (P6).
  •     The club head and shaft are almost parallel with the target line.
  •     My butt is staying on the wall better also.

P7.thumb.JPG.c453810accbc244aeb2c272a3af62c70.JPG

This is the big one.

  •    Shoulders are actually open at impact.
  •    You can see a lot more of the left leg.
  •     My butt is still on the wall.

P9.thumb.JPG.c53c1e3669cf9190ace6838c9eb5b832.JPG

Shaft horizontal post impact. Butt still on the wall and a little more right side crutch.

I have to say this has been the hardest change to my swing that I have ever attempted. I’ve been working on this for 1 year and I still don’t have it completely.

Sure I can do it here off a mat. Then I have to do it off of grass. Then I have to do it on the range, then the course, with someone watching, someone keeping score, league play, tournament play, over water, with OB left, etc. etc.

I have tried my best to be a Stupid Monkey. I hit a few bumps in the road along the way. My scores suffered early in the season while attempting to make this change. About late May I started to execute it better. Then my tournament scores started to show it. 76, 74, 72, 68 and 71.

It’s been a great journey sticking to ONE thing that I know would improve my swing and hence my scoring. I will continue this path until I feel I am ready for the next piece or Erik tells me otherwise.
