Kaymer is a good player but McDowell i think is just amazing under pressure and how many of those wins that Kaymer has were on the pga tour. You have to understand from top to bottom euro tour isnt close to as deep as the pga tour a win is a win but im mean its not close to the same.Playful time on the tour then i will have a little more respect not saying he isnt a good player but the best dont play on the euro tour.

And how many wins does McDowell have on the PGA Tour? Same as Kaymer: One.

See above post by Zeph for the 'best don't play on the PGA Tour''

He won the us open and the chevron but its the way he beat Tiger that was incredible i mean Tiger was playing amazing and McDowell beat him with two huge twemty foot putts but time will tell. The bottom line is regardless Tiger is the best he is just fighting his swing but the other two times he changed his swing he had just 1 win and o majors so this whole number thing is ridiculous cause there is only one golfer that has shown consistency and thats Tiger so he will get it back sooner or later.

I don't like Tiger but I think he's great for the game of golf.   I personally don't care that he cheated on his wife, though I did find it a bit ironic given how he attempted to portray himself to the media as a standup guy.

Golf seems less exciting without Tiger actively closing in on the Majors record.  I didn't like Barry Bonds, but was interested in watching him break the HR record, same applies here.

Nope. Plus the time to commit has already passed. He'll stubbornly stick to his normal schedule.

People flock to winners. Some people really flock to his "win at all costs" attitude. How could anyone be a fan of Lance Armstrong or Roger Clemens (or Alex Rodriquez etc.)?

You can be a fan of his game and not his attitude or behavior.

He won't ever get it back...he'll be out the Top 10 this year (as will Mickelson) and he'll stick to his promise of retiring from golf if he isn't winning/contending (which means millions of fair-weather golf 'fans' can go and find another sport to watch)

I'm sorry if that's a bitter pill for 'Tiger-ites' to swallow...but sooner or later...it's got to be swallowed...

2011 will be known as Golf's 'New World Order'...

How about winning 14 majors, 71 PGA tournaments and 38 European tournaments, being by far the best player the last 15 years?

Love him or hate him the guy is entertaining.  I (along with millions of others) want to watch tournaments to see how is is playing.  I enjoy watching golf with or without Tiger, but I am admittedly more interested when he is playing.

Those who bash him should give some consideration to where the game would be without him.  He deserves a good deal of credit for the advancement of the game over the last 15 years.  Do you think that the equipment strides would have happened so quickly or at all if Tiger hadn't been as dominant?  I for one do not.  Do you think that the game of golf in general would be as accessible if Tiger had not been such a dominant and popular figure? Again, I for one do not.

Many of us who took up the game in the last 15 years owe a lot to Tiger.  We owe some gratitude for the equipment that affords us the ability to hit the ball so far and straight to him.  We also owe him some gratitude for the affordability of a round of golf and the plethora of golf publications available.

I firmly believe that TIger helped usher in an era of technological advancement and accessibility that would not have otherwise have happened to the golf world.  At least not as quickly as it has.

That said, I do not believe that Tiger will regain the dominance he once displayed.  I will not speculate on how many more tournaments or majors he will win except to say that I would not be surprised if he never wins again.

Is entertaining or was entertaining? I find it hard to believe you enjoy watching him play now...especially when there's so many other better players around.

I followed him for the first 3 holes at The Open at St Andrews last year and then decided to watch all the other other groups instead...can't be doing with the lemmings that follow his group around all the time and watching parts of McIlroy's masterful 63 was far, far better than a guy struggling to re-adjust, regardless of who he is/what he's done.

Oh, and no, we don't owe him anything whatsoever...golf's his job.

IS.  Yes, I said IS entertaining.  That is one of the things that makes him so special.  People want to see him play even if he's playing badly because you might get to see him turn it around.

Yes, golf is his job.  And physics was Albert Einsteins' job but would you say we owe nothing to him for his theory of relativity?  He was just doing his job and therefore no credit is due for any subsequent advancements.  I'm sure you believe that.  C'mon.

It doesnt work that way - Tiger still has a lot of points left from former wins in the last years - if he doesnt manage to win within the next two months, he will loose these points, and he will drop out of the Top20! And that is actually a fact. You might hold on for a position for quite a while in the WGR - but once you start to struggle and cant keep up with your former success, you drop will be quick and steep - just look at how fast and deep Duval dropped.

So yes, its hard to understand why he doesnt play more - i guess he would if he sees himself capable of winning.

Hmmm - 0 majors - 0 PGA tournaments and 0 European tournaments in the last two years - i´d say thats a more accurate description of his performance than drooling over his past.

So we should only be a fan of those who win each year? I think you should look up the definition of "fan".

LOL - why do you think Woods had such a HUGE fanbase over every other player on tour - certainly not because he is such a nice approachable person that makes his fans feel special, signing autographs all day long and respecting the game that made him rich. Heck no - he had so many fans, because he was winning all the time every year. He was a sure bet not only for the punters but also for people who needed an easy way to root for somebody in golf.

You arent the best golfer ever then all of a sudden become a average joe like everyone else on tour special talent doesnt just dissaper like i said befor the last two times he changed his swing he had slumps just like the on he is having now this year isnt any different from the previous times he has changed his swing the reason he is getting bashed is for what he did off the course the commentators just tell you what they want yoo to hear. Tiger won 0 majors and just one tourny when he was changing his swing with Butch and Hank.

How can you not go for the guy that put this sport on the map and made it what it is today. To tell yourself that golf was great before him is just crazy. He dominated and is dominating this sport like noone has ever dominated any sport in the history of sports. Like i said before i dont agree with what he did off the course i am a husband and father and what he did to his family is wrong but this isnt Dr.Phil people what he does on the course is magical and will never be duplicated. He is simply a amazing golfer and golf needs him period.

    • Day 11: 2/16/2025 Rince and Repeat: Just like yesterday I spent several 5-10 minute sessions working on what I learned on Friday.
    • Quick update. So, I got the PXG Secret Weapon and I have to say I like it... mostly. (see below) I spent some time with it on the range and I even gathered some data in doors. I'm not going to post data yet, as my swing is still a bit of a work in progress and I'd like to gather some more data after I settle down a little bit more. But here's my review.  First as a driver replacement. ... IMO it is not a replacement, it's clearly more of a supplement... for me anyway. Not long enough to really replace the driver. For me it's about 20 yards short of my driver. It is longer than my 30-wood off the tee. (15 yards-ish) I will say it is easier to hit off the tee than my 3-wood. I get some of my best shots teeing it low, but I also get some of my worst. If I tee it about a full inch off the ground I get very consistent shots. Super repeatable. Amazingly repeatable even with my messy swing. Off the tee, I find it draw biased just a bit. You can tinker with the set up if that isn't your personal cup of tea.  As a 3-wood replacement. For me it's about perfect. It's longer than my 3-wood off the deck (my data showed 10 yards longer) and it has a gentle fade to it, which I love. You do need a clean lie, but I never hit my 3-wood off anything but a clean lie anyway. I found it interesting that I hit a gentle fade off the deck and a slight draw off a tee. I'm sure that's not uncommon. Again, you can tinker with the set up to optimize that if you wanted to... I don't want to.  It's clearly a lot longer than my 3-wood off the tee. Easier to hit off the tee than my 3 wood, and off the deck it's also longer. So, it's a no-brainer 3-wood replacement for me. I will say that over the years I've learned to use my 3-wood for this low-flying-100-yard-punch-out-from-under-a-tree shot.  I'll have to see if the Secret Weapon can handle that duty. But it's going in the bag to replace the 3-wood.  I also turned my 5-wood down from 19 degrees to 17 degrees. ... Incidentally my 3-wood had been 16 degrees. I used to always hit my 5 wood and my hybrid about the same distance. This adjustment helps my gapping a bit at the top of the bag. I can clearly hit my 5-wood farther than my hybrid now.  Overall on the PXG Secret Weapon. The good: It's clearly longer and easier to hit off the tee than my 3-wood. It's a bit longer off the deck than my 3-wood.  It's super forgiving... surprisingly so.  It's uber adjustable. ... Although I do suggest getting fit for it. That will save you having to (or wanting to) buy a weight kit just to try out the infinite number of set ups. The headcover is super cool.  The maybe not so good: Shots out of the middle sound great. Shots off the heal sound great. Shots off the toe sound ... what's the work... clangy? It's very forgiving off the toe and the heal. The flight and the distance are incredibly consistent. But the sound off the toe isn't great.  For me I tend to draw it off the tee and fade it off the deck. You can set it up to be biased either way, but in my hands I think if I set up a draw off the deck, that might induce a duck hook off the tee. ... In fairness that could also be where my swing is at right now.  It's pretty spendy. ... If I really stop and think about it, I paid $450 for a new 3-wood. Granted it's a better performing 3-wood. But for me it's really a 3-wood replacement.
