No doubt... It just depends on your philosophy around gear.  I have friends who still play drivers from the early 2000's and irons from who knows when, and they are great players.  Some people just like to take full advantage of the technology that newer gear offers.  That's all I meant.

I'd be willing to argue that a big part of the 'technology' in the past 5 years has been in shafts and fitting.

The R7 425 is a very solid head, with a relatively hot face.  Since fitting mine with an optimal shaft, I've really yet to find anything that provides more than a 5-10% improvement in speed, spin or dispersion.
