I purchased a Kodak Play Sport camera to record my golf swing and decided that I want to record all my shots during my rounds of golf. That way I could look back and see why I mishit some and what I do right when I hit them pure. I figured at around 60 strokes (minus the putting) that should require about 30 minutes of recording and edited down to about 10 minutes of actual swings with quick results comments. So I needed to set something up that allows me to just hit record and not have to worry about it. I decided mounting the camera on my pull cart was the best solution. Here are the results, untested, golf season is just about to start up here. What do you guys think? Yeah, if I didn't see the stuffed horse I'd think it was the international space station.  Seriously though, I can see this getting old after a couple rounds - at least for Nick's friends.

Looks cool, I have the same camera for videoing family vacations.  Only downside is it's a bit slow for recording golf swings (60fps).  Might want to look into one of the Casio cameras if you want really fast recording options (up to 1000fps).
Seriously though, I can see this getting old after a couple rounds - at least for Nick's friends
I hope that I can accomplish my goals filming with the least amount of intrusion into the game, otherwise I won't don't it. I do normally keep a pretty good pace, so I see no issues with this. My cart will simply be about 10-12 feet directly behind me and when I'll pull my club out of the bag i will hit record. The only issue is for my drives, I don't see how I can get a shot from behind, most tee boxes are too small and elevated, so I'll probably just try to setup face-on or from behind recording, but not stressing on that too much, it's more for the iron play I want to really try to groove that it as much as possible. This is just an experiment. I'll let you know how it works out as soon as I play a round.

If you push your cart, it might be faster the other way around (shooting over your clubs). You can set up the shot as you approach the ball.

That was my original thought as well, but bag is too high up on the cart. I'd have to have the camera up another foot or so to get the shot. Obviously I'll try different camera positions when I get out there.

I can see this taking too much effort to get the shot framed correctly and taking away from concentrating on the actual shot.  That being said, still pretty cool.

I have the same camera.  It does OK, but like newtogolf said, I'll probably be looking into a better one.  FWIW, I bought an accessory pack off of Amazon for $35 that had a remote control, extra battery, 8GB memory card, a litte tripod, screen protectors, and a carrying case.

    • I found this video... Old Method 1. Open the clubface a ton 2. Open the stance a ton 3. Swing along the foot line New Method 1. Set up with the handle lower, and the ball further away form the body. 2. The clubface still opens up, but lowering the handle helps in not having to open the stance as much or for some keep the stance closed. Keeping the stance closed allows them to keep their weight forward much easier.  Now, I question that the PGA Tour players are hitting steeply down into the sand. I think they may have gotten this wrong in the video. You can load up the weight on the front foot, and still hit the ball shallow. The amount of sand taken out in some of the swings is not that much, and the divot doesn't look that deep.  Thoughts?
    • I would say I am not a fan. Honestly, I never ran into a situation where a tree root was anywhere close to the fairway. I am not a fan of free relief from a natural occurring feature of the course. Guess what, you have an option, unplayable lie. I know people think fairways should be pristine and free of all things that could inhibit your shot. I've played courses were big a** trees overhang a fairway and you have no shot at the green. It happens. If you think you will injure yourself, or do not want to chip out sideways from a root, then take an unplayable lie.  If you apply this rule, what is stopping someone from not being able to take a right-handed swing to being able to take a swing? A tree could be in the fairway (think hole #18 at Pebble Beach). They are like, I need relief. Now they get to have a shot at the green when the tree is there as an obstruction, something to play around.  Sorry, I do not think this is a good rule at all. If the course has that many trees, that it comes up a ton. Then vote as a club to have them removed.
    • I've thought about this quite a bit since I've started using Shot Scope. Not all shots from a certain yardage that end up a certain distance from the hole are created equal, but I guess the thought is that over time those should even out since there would be other times where you're hitting into a funnel pin or something where it plays "easier" than what the SG suggests.

    • I voted decent weather golfer.  Generally it needs to be over 50 and sunny with no wind or over 70 if there is wind or rain.  I generally don't play in the rain or when it is over 95 unless it is league night and I can't reschedule or some type of event. Most of the time that I have played in the rain is because we just got caught in the rain, almost never tee off in the rain. We did tee off in the rain the first time we played at Eaglesticks, but it was warm and there was not much of a chance of rain and while it absolutely poured for a while, it stopped after 4 or 5 holes.
