Muriwai Golf Club

A links course on the West Coast of Auckland in New Zealand. It's very linksy and as it's sand based we get fantastic fairways and greens all year round. It's summer at the moment so the fairways are running a fair bit. A nice challenging course - especially when the wind blows

My first post in the forums; finally figured out why I had that red line through my name! Guess I have to get to my three posts.

Anyway, I wouldn't say this is my "home" course, but I do play in a league at Aston Oaks: http://www.astonoaksgolfclub.com/

Golfweek has it listed as the #6 public course in Ohio. I say Golfweek is nuts personally but hey..to each his own.

What's funny is that when I clicked on this thread and read the very first post (by Hogan Fan) and he listed his as Walden Ponds....that course is about 4 minutes from my house!

I nice little track that has a very reasonable membership price. What I really like about it is that I can go out and play 5 holes and be close enough to the clubhouse to walk off after a nice little practice session.

My home course is the Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course.
It's loosely based on a links style.
The back nine is more challenging than the front. (in the traditional style)
It is a recognized the world over, as one of the most visually stunning courses to play

I've got a few websites for my home course.
The official site isn't as good as I would like to see it, so here are a few links:

My home course is the Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course.

You're a lucky guy. I played it a couple years ago and it was beautiful. Also played Silvertip and Stewart Creek over in Canmore. I posted pics over in the "eye candy" golf hole thread.

I don't have a home course as I am only playing pitch and putt right now. Hoping to play a round on a full course this summer.

    • @DeadMan, I think your approach makes sense. As @dennyjones said, consistency is the key.
    • Day 204 (22 Nov 24) - Weekly men’s group round today.  Temps in the upper 40’s, WNW winds 5-15mph - was the old man in the foursome (next youngest is my junior by 10yrs) - held my own against them.  Iron play getting more consistent -seeing predictable ball flights and distances. While the consistency coming around still had sone solid negatives as I had two dbls and one triple. On the plus side - eight pars and one birdie.
    • I don't think anyone will really care.   It's your call.  Just be consistent.
    • I agree, until we are watching the 18th hole in the dark or waiting for the champion to finish and it's been 5+ hours
    • Question for the group. The course I normally play at has 27 holes - 3 9s that they use to for 18 in the various combinations. Is it okay to declare* if I’m playing front or back when I play 9 on this course? I’m figuring I need to declare before I play a shot. *meaning just say to myself that this is the back 9. Curious what people think. Of course, my only holes left are 13 and 17, so I’m going to declare the back 9 for the rest of the year. Probably only one or two more rounds though.
