I do most of my golfing at FalconRidge Raceview here in Ottawa. But recently, I've probably been playing more of Pineview Golf Club.

This is my first post and I thought adding Springfield Country Club in Oregon would be a good place to start. We have been members for a long time and watched the place to grow into a quality golf course. Our three boys grew up golfing and running around the place and the great members and staff would watch after them. It was an amazing thing to see how well they were treated at the club. They learned how to conduct themselves and a lot of life lessons from growing up at SCC.

I just moved from Eugene to Albany. I have heard great things about Springfield CC, but never got a chance to play it. I play at the golf club of Oregon in Albany almost all day. It doesn't really have a website...

Golf Club of Oregon is a fun and easy course. Be a great place to play everyday for the average golfer. My kids always played the junior tournament in the summer and they loved it. They hit the ball pretty long and could over power the course and that was very fun for them. But, they never really shot as low as they claimed they were going to. I think it is a little tougher than it looks.

Right down the road is a very fun country club course. Springhill Country Club is a very fun place to play. It is very unique in that it has 3 par-5, 3 par-3, and 3 par-4 on both sides. Lots of birdes and bogeys with the unique setup. Lots and lots of trees.

My course, very basic website, its a heathland course very near the sea so is mainly always windy its a short course but is hilly and plays longer because of the wind and the elevation. With it being near the coast its year round golf and a very good test my handicap tends to travel well

Just joined so I figured I would add one on here. I don't really have a home course, but this is probably where I play the most.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
